Looks nice already. Any idea how to host your replays yet? A free site host will not really be prepared for massive download traffic.

 

As I said, I use the same host as this one you are on right now.

It should handle uploads and stuff. (Plus, the more traffic, the more donations/popularity and thus able for me to upgrade host if needed)

My first idea is, start website off with the basics, good template, good forum, good uploading database. If I get enough donations, I will proceed to buy vBulletin, unless traffic too strong for server, then I'll spend it on the host.

 

You probably should hurry a bit then. Appearantly, the price is going way up from the moment vb 4.0 is released. However, you do get lifetime support and free upgrades then. Check Twitter or TAZ for the leaked info. Somebody took screenshots of some staff boards, they were made public by accident. xD

 

How did the removal of the II take you ages when you're a proficient Ps user?

Doesn't team liquid do this though? I could be wrong.

You try remove something that's been stitched in that hard.. Take a good look at it, I had to get it all looking like it was never there.

I don't know about that team, but I done it myself and it sure is harder than you think. Want the .psd?

btw. I really want to make the template myself for experience.

Oh, if you're thinking the team does the maps. Ew, it looks like a really bad starcraft-based site. Plus this one's main focus is map uploading and replay uploading.

 

Well, Team Liquid has like, hundreds of replays. Just make sure you are the first when SC2 is released. Maybe you could even get replays and footage of the beta up?

 

I won't try because I know I can do it. And what do you mean stitched in that hard? Just pen tool the StarCraft text and delete the rest, then add the dark glow. 10 minute job tops.

And yes, I mean that team does maps and replays, not image editing. Perhaps you should check out the site before deeming it bad. It's one of the top Starcraft resources for a reason.

 

Aurora, the reason I want to start this up, is to be ONLY about replays and maps etc, resources. Then when people use frequently, evolve into a starcraft 2 one. (I see loads of replay hosts but none are souly towards the downloading and uploading)

All I need is support and promotions.

Then clone/replicate the background exactly (the metal background), it's not a glow. It's a stroke, plus I did more than you think, just grab the .psd off me.

 

The point was about getting rid of the II, I just added the bit about the glow to avoid you saying "it also has a dark glow to it". And since you corrected it to stroke I have a feeling you would've posted just that The glow was just a stab in the dark out of all the techniques possible. And if you did any more than what I posted then obviously you wanted more than just getting rid of the II. I was merely saying that what you wanted according to your post is a 10 minute job and I don't know how you could've toiled with it.

As for the site, it's a good idea to start with SC1 material and grow into SC2 but I think starting a new site related to SC1 is a couple of years late... there isn't much demand for yet another SC1 site. I'd suggest going straight for SC2 content, even though there are already lost of those as well.

 

Problem is, everyone will start making starcraft 2 sites when I develope mine into one directly.

All the starcraft sites nowadays aren't actually anything like what I want to develope, they all talk about starcraft news, starcraft in general, starcraft 2 (either) but they never ONLY consist of major downloading and uploading of replays, resources, wallpapers, maps, etc. (as a huge database)
