Windblade I think you dont know history good enough!

The first maker of dota was Guinsoo, who created the warcraft3 version. Eul created the allstar version for TFT, which became "the dota". Later Eul gaave his work on to icefrog, and since then he has been working with dota.

I dont think "wc3 is going to decline heavily when sc2 comes". You see creating the sequel for dota in sc2 isnt as easy if you want as good as game as dota has become know. People want to play with there techies, razor, earthshaker, zeus etc. They want balance and many items and units, not perfect grafic (those began to play WOW). This was much easier to do from ROC->TFT in technical sense. This will not be easy from wc3->sc2.

I dont think the dota fans are gonna falter very much when sc2 hits the stores. I also dont think a new dota will be created, I think another kind of game (same ideas just better) will be created though - but the true fans will still stay loyal to dota.

Im not saying dota is copyrighted, but the community is ;) Its not easy to make a new dota league, a new dotastrategy, a new dota-allstars, a new playdota etc. etc.

Edit: Oh sorry, my memory faltered. When I say Eul i mean Guinso and the other way around. Dont know why I mixed two togehter. Ofcurse Eul started the game and Guinsso made the TFT-version (there is a reason why the eul got upgraded to the guinso back in the older versions).

Making something as complicated as what DoTA has become will take a very long time, and to be able to overtake DoTA, it would have to be convincingly superior, which is a task in itself. Full retail games like Demigod and the yet to be released League of Legends are attempting to do this, and I do not believe either will succeed.

However, I'm very confident that DoTA will eventually be overtaken by an SC2 variant. It's very much the same community after all. This won't happen overnight though, DoTA itself became popular years after WC3 was released, so I'd expect the same from an SC2 version.

We'll see a lot of TDs, Defense maps, and bad DoTA clones for at least the first 6 months. And once people start figuring out the kinks of the new SC2 editor, that's when we'll start seeing the good stuff.

The point is that we dont need to expect/want another DoTA clone. With the new tools we'll be getting with SC2, I'd expect to see more DoTA-esque games being created, along with tons of new ideas. Everyone's going to want to try something out.

    Which is awesome.

I dont understand the LAN desicion... I know the battle.net lan idea soudns smart, but it is well known that lan has lower delay then battle.net...

Really bad decision, blizzard seems to be pulling in opposite directions, unveiling information about replays and observing to progamming sites then turning around and removing LAN? :/

Team liquids article this one actually has some interesting balance information.

Still disappointed there's nothing more significant, doesn't seem worth a NDA.

Tech-trees are interesting, the video presentation by sc2gg.com probably also.

Looking at the Terran Tech-tree, they've changed the merc compound, cant see it to well but it kinda looks like a prison/hardcore training facility
its no longer the pub its once was, looks cool but where the marines goin to get a drink now?

Why do you think the power armour is so bulky? The marines are stocked!

The tech trees are interesting, i skimmed over them originally thinking they hadn't changed.
