If the guys from TL signed the NDA, it means that they signed an official agreement that they will not say anything until after the deadline. If they did speak up, Blizzard could then use the NDA in court, which would make it a very short case.

I'm all for people using Google to answer questions....really, use the internet for something other than porn and torrents....and porn torrents.

But, lets just all get along and help one another. We all love SC and highly anticipate SC2 here.

I agree that this must be a beta start date announcement. I don't think Blizz or Team Liquid would dissapoint us with anything less. They wouldn't feed us BS hype this far in. I trust.

A retail release date? Doesn't that really depend on how beta goes? I'm not being a prick as usual, it's an honest question.

SC2 release is going to be the end of all games and maybe even porn! For a while at least

the beta is actually a public beta

public beta's are basically stress tests on the servers and final testings for game mechanics. see even though blizzard has probably 500 people looking for bugs, glitches, imbalances etc. and the alpha and private beta, often bugs and glitches slip through. of course often its more about giving the public the gameplay and seeing feedback before giving out the retail edition.

so essentially this beta is to make sure the servers wont go KABOOM on release date, any other bugs and imbalances that are found can basically be fixed through an update and not delay the launch

like resistance 2 - i was in the beta for that and the game came out on time even though we found some imbalances and some things we thought should be tweaked...well they released the game without it but on launch date when you popped the disc in and hit play - it made you download a patch to fix a big chunk of stuff we found.

if next monday is overhyped i will go Kratos on Mount Blizzard

Public Betas are also about people abusing what bugs/glitches/loop holes do make through. People do this to win. Blizzard notices this and fixes each one.

if you look closely that was in my second paragrapho! the thing that concerns me is Blizzard turning into douche's and instead of doing an update they delay the release cuz they are lazy

Well, I won't stress the Servers too much when it is released, I want first to explore all aspects of the Single Player Campaign :)

I hate to break it to you, but I'm pretty certain that Single Player will not be included in the Beta.

We might get the map editor though, so we might see some early DOTA clones if we're lucky.

Yeah but I bet there will be a number of people who try to create DoTA at first... either the crappier ones will be filtered out or we'll get some cool new UMS games out of it :p Cant complain!

I hope DoTA doesn't consume the whole UMS list like it did in WC3...new UMS maps was the reason i played WC3 on battle net but then they all disappeared =O

DotA is so big that its a eSport now...so yes expect it to consume the list, but at the same time i expect TD's Run Kitty Run, Wintermaul all to be back as well, and probably newer ideas because the new editor allows for me. at the same we have to realize that DotA's core concept will remain the same (2 teams, heroes, now be uber and kill'em) but the mechanics and such will be vastly different which makes it new and fresh.

Yeah I'm sure there will be a lot of returning ideas from SC1 and WC3, and tons of new stuff. That's what's exciting, I cant wait to see what new UMS stuff will come out.

I dont think the dota thing will happen my friends. As long as icefrog is running it in wc3 it will countinue its reign in wc3. icefrog is even trying to center everything around him to strenghten his reign. for example: http://www.playdota.com/ his new site.

Who said icefrog is the one who has to make SC2's equivalent of DotA?

I didnt, but Im saying that a lot of the dotacommunity will follow icefrog, even though there comes a sc2 better grafic version. Icefrog's decision is very important, like eul's was back in the day when he made it for TFT.

furrer DotA for TFT starting springing up REALLY fast, Eul didnt really even notice, when Eul came out with his TFT dota, no one liked it because he didnt re-invent it like the new version which is what IceFrog inherited and built upon.

    1) Icefrog can and can't make the new DotA its his decision
    2) Uhh anyone who works on the current DotA can take charge of the Sc2 version, or someone else can create it, DotA is not trademarked or copyrighted and actually can't be.

    - IceFrog has yet to say he isn't doing SC2 at all. until he says "I dont want to make the SC2 DotA" we can assume he is thinking of it or deciding who is going to be taking charge. WC3 is going to decline heavily when SC2 comes
