Actually, you do own a limited distribution right. It just isn't meaningful in anyway to your own personal gain.

And the idea that DRM is necessary to prevent loss revenues due to piracy is debatable. But the cost of DRM is a lot cheaper than the potential risk of not having it in place.

If and when this happens for single player games, I will stop gaming. Period.

They are ruining PC Gaming even considering this concept. I can understand for MMO's (actual MMO's) but to call a game like Starcraft an MMO just so they can do this... it's blasphemy. I am sick of online gaming and just want to play my simple single player games and enjoy them. Now have to fight other people online and have drama (ala World of Warcraft).

I really do not like what Blizzard is doing and I refuse to give them anymore money.

And to the poster who was laughing at my comment and said I have the right to not buy the game... you are most definitly right. I do have the right to not buy the game and I haven't and will not ever. I have played a bit of it and it is an awesome game. It is a crying shame that Blizzard had to start imploring tactics like this.

It's been proven games can sell exceededly well with little to no DRM in place.

    This isn't exactly true.

First an interesting article from EA http://news.cnet.com/8301-13846_3-10054438-62.html
Basically they say piracy doesn't hurt their bottomline.

I believe the major problem with SC2's DRM is that its not meant to protect the game, its meant to allow them to charge a subscription in Korea, Russia, Brazil, etc.. For instance LAN was not removed for anti-piracy reasons. That's hogwash. It was removed because no one in Korea would pay a monthly fee if they could buy the game once for 20 bucks and play on a LAN.

Regardless of whether the DRM bothers you or whether you care if the game has LAN, every gamer should be outraged at what Blizzard is doing. If we don't stand up for our rights now, all the games will be subscription based and the DRM will only get more intrusive.
