Hmm I just looked at the title. I dont like it.

"delayed". Nothing is delayed, as no date has been given. Am I correct?

They promised beta by summer, which is officially over now, right? That basically means it's delayed.

    @Gasmaskguy

First off, they never "promised" anything. They said they were targetting a summer release for the beta, and as they always say, release dates are subject to change at any time.

Secondly, the summer is far from over. The last day of summer is September 21st.

So, the game has officially not been delayed yet. Blizzard has said before that if they decide to delay the game past 2009, they will make an announcement confirming that.

No, we will get the beta next month, or September. Maybe October, or December, but no later than 2014.

Ah, Furrer, you sound like a Blizzard rep! While it is true that Blizzard never gave a date, they did indicate that they were aiming for a 2009 release --which seems highly improbable now. You see, I chose the word ''delay'' because it was shorther than ''Yes, Blizzard have yet again missed their own target, the target that they never share with us anyway''.

I hope Blizzard's new title bombs --they need to learn how to set some targets and actually hit them from time to bloody time.

If it dosen"t hit befor 2010 who cares really we have wated this long besides beta is soon and if you want sc2 just save your chrismas money and buy it in january or febuary or beyond as long as it hits befor 2012 because thats when the world is supposed to end.

Also another thing about diablo 3 blizz is still looking for people to work on it so its not even close to the readiness of sc2.

One thing to say about blizzard is to...

    Expect the Unexpected!

Either ways, 2010 isn't such a long wait. And besides, an even number looks more promising for a release because having it in an odd number like 2009 is kind of odd lol.. Seriously, the probability of releasing SC2 this year has become really questionable, well I just hope that they could release it outside of US soon.

well if they haven't come out and said anything in awhile which they haven't then i would expect something really big at Blizz Con this year. Or at least an announcement of beta officially starting after Blizzcon 2009.

    keep your figures crossed :)

I highly doubt it will be released in 2009. If the beta started right now and it takes 4-6 months as they suggest the earliest beta would be over would be the end of December 2009 and if it takes a bit longer into early 2010 and that is if the beta started right now this very day.

Delaying this game was predictable. It is Blizzardish ! We're used to keep our patience intact. The beta is not released yet. You know 5 or 6 more months it's nothing. Especially from Blizzard. Let's see if the beta will be very balanced. I think Blizzard will take all the balances from the original Starcraft to put them on this new game. It's better this game is delayed than to get each month a patch to fix a bug. Especially now with the newest technologies it's hard to adapt a universal game like this for most of the computers worldwide

    One reflexion please :

Will there be missions in "Starcraft 2 : Wings of Liberty" (Terran campaign) where we will have to control other races than Terran ?
I remember a Protoss mission in Brood War where we had to control both a Protoss base and a Zerg base to devolop units to damage the Overmind.
If I ask this question it is because I just wondered that Blizzard will have to finalize all the races before releasing the first DVD. Blizzard is not only working highly on the Terran game, to balance all the strustures and units, but also the other races, Zerg and Protoss.
Anyway the Terrans will certainly have to fight against Zerg and Protoss bases so probably the other races will have to be finished, balanced, etc ...

Why does everyone make a deal about the patches?
Even downloading the patch from the moon on a 56k dial up the patch would take ... 10 minutes. You can make a Peanut butter and jelly sandwich and eat it in 10 minutes.

    Or......

We can wait until 2010 to play a new Blizzard game.

    The wait continues...
    2004 and more etc etc

I don't think this was posted but here is 100% fact its next year

I personally think Blizzard has moved most of its resources into fixing WoW in China. Yes I know each game has their own dev team but they can easily be told to help out WoW China's problem because they are loosing a wopping 15mil a month.

Don't have the link for the source for the WoW China problem. Also they are probably changing to gore in SC2 because China said SC2 will be banned.

There is a Blue post on the BattleNet forums that reads as follows, confirming what you just said:

Today we announced that StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty will not be ready for release by the end of 2009. Over the past couple of weeks, it has become clear that it will take longer than expected to prepare the new Battle.net for the launch of the game. - Cydra

I am completely unsurprised. The beta had not been announced yet and I was getting a feeling about the whole new Battle.net thing as well. Blizzard sure sticks to their "it's ready when it's ready" mantra... Starcraft II is going to be such a great game!
