    @Kaaraa

I have no doubt that the artwork will be fantastic stuff. But unless this book is an encyclopedia of sorts (which I doubt), then it has limited use. Frankly, collector's editions are almost invariably shameless money-grabs --and this one, filled with useless paraphanalia, is no different. Had they recreated SCBW with the SC2 engine, and updated the cutscenes with new shiny graphics, then I'd consider it a good buy. THAT would have been an awesome collector's edition.

These are the perks I would've included in an SC2 collector's edition:

    1) A REMAKE OF SCBW It makes sense since many people want to replay the original campaigns, and if you're not familiar with the SC universe you'd be up to speed.

    2) A SPECIAL EDITION HARDBOUND COPY OF THE GAME MANUAL COMPLETE WITH ARTWORK I consulted the original manuals so many times that they fell to pieces years ago.

    3) DVD: THE MUSIC OF SC2

Seriously, mate, if Blizzard wants an extra $40 USD for a collector's edition, well, they better work for it.

I would also love to see that but a remake with up to date graphics and cut scenes is a bit too much, they went the easy way and just put the regular one on a usb stick for the campaign, if most players nowadays would be willing to suffer through the out of date graphics (people are spoilt with this new gen XD) then the story is there for em

I preordered SC2 mid last year. At EB games and today I just changed my pre-order for a Limited edition one. And to AcE_01 and other Australians howw do you feel having to pay $150 for it. That's 50% more then the US price. Not exactly fair. But I kinda budgeted for $150 so I'm willing to pay for it.

And it's way better then the Spore limited edition I purchased. Theu even left off one DVD from the Australian Spore Limited Edition but it was on the US one. I was really mad at that. So I got someone to upload the dvd content and I downloaded it and burnt it to a dvd.

But back on topic I really like the SC2 Limited edition. I know I'll have to buy 2 more limited editions at big money still but that's ok.

The Art of StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty, a 176-page book featuring artwork from the game
I know many people don't like reading artwork books. But I really like reading these kind of books and how they game is made. I've read my 2 spore books over and over. And I think it'll be the same with the SC2 one.

An exclusive 2GB USB flash drive replica of Jim Raynor's dog tag, which comes preloaded with the original StarCraft and the StarCraft: Brood War expansion set
That's nice but pointless for me and most of us here. I already own SC2 and BW. But I wonder if this SC will come with the OS X installer. Just wondering. I always think these fancy USB drives are a waste of time. And with SC2 out no one will platy SC1. So this is ncie but if it was not there I would not care at all.

A behind-the-scenes DVD containing over an hour of developer interviews, cinematics with director's commentary, and more
Most people will be busy playing SC2. But I'll watch this a lot. I like watching behind the scenes and making of dvds.

The official StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty soundtrack CD, containing 14 epic tracks from the game along with exclusive bonus tracks
Woot! Ringtones :). Anyways if the reacks are any good they could be nice mood music for my ipod on a long journey. I like listening to just music at times (with no words).

StarCraft comic book issue #0, a prequel to the comic series
I know nothing about the SC comics and I don't read comics apart from Garfield a lot. But if this has lore in it. And you all know I'm a lore junkie, I'll read it a few times. I think this is for the SC comic collectors. Juves them a reason to fight to get the limited edition.

A World of Warcraft mini Thor in-game pet that can be applied to all World of Warcraft characters on a single Battle.net account
Funky. I'll use this when I play WoW for a bit. But like anything we people are creatures of habit. We normally just have out always the pet we like. For me it's the human orphan. I never finished childrens week on purpose to get to keep the item that spits out the orphan. But one more pet to my list is cool.

A lot of peole would love this JonX. Maybe not you but other would. And they would be like "Come on yeah! more WoW pets for me. Each to their own. But In the way it is a blatent ploy to get WoW players to buy this package too I agree. Which is dirty tactics by Blizzard's standards.

Exclusive Battle.net downloadable content, including special portraits for your Battle.net profile, decals to customize your units in-game, and a visually unique version of the terran Thor unit
This sound nice. But is it just for customisable games? Or will it effect normal MP/SP? I wonder.

And I hope it's a tin box and not just whoosy cardboard.

    ****************

I hope exPac 1 and 2 are not $150 each also.

I'm interested for the comics but not for the other bonuses.

What I'm very interested is the release date. If they begin to talk about the limited edition, they will talk about the release date in a small time.

If you're only interested in the comic, you can buy that for a few dollars from a comic store. Unless this particular comic was never physically released. I don't keep track of the comics.

I'll most certainly care about StarCraft 2 (which is 60$ of the price) after a month :D

IMO, not worth the extra $40. I don't play WoW and I already got a 2G USB just this winter. I haven't played SC that much either in the past few months, so having it on a USB wouldn't be worth it for me.

However, the in-game decals sound interesting

Dont worry, like with each game you're in, you'll lose your collection of weapons and items for no real reason after you defeat Dr. Willy:D

I have yet to uninstall StarCraft in over six years (conservative estimate) and plus I have it on DVD backups with all patches and tons of maps, therefore, the USB is the most worthlress addition in a CE ever. Still, I'm buying this :D Even if it's just for the DVD and soundtrack. Although, that badass big ****in box is well worth another 10$-15$ of it to me.

Agreed. That box is so manly. Walk around with that box under your arm and I'm sure no one would want to mess with you.

Such a cute little thor pet :3

Wonder how much you could sell it on ebay for, that is, if you're able to.

Lame. Most of the stuff in that box is either standard fare, or useless junk (WoW pet? Like I play that piece. SCI on USB? HA I already own that for a download. Portraits are pointless, all they prove is that you enjoy wasting money). Whats more lame though is the price. Most other games would provide those extras for what Blizzard selling their standard version for. I think I'll have to pass on the ripoff.

What really annoys me though, is the fact that they are releasing half of a game (MP and one campaign out of three) for ten bucks more than everyone else sells a full game. I know people are willing to pay out the *** for this game, but that doesn't mean they should make everyone do so.

I understand everyone (Including me) has been looking forward to this game for a while, but I am not sseeing anything to justify the prices they are selling at.

    BoP Lives!

Considering that...I guess it's ok to say I blame BoP for their item choices in the chest :D

If you want to see me post more go the the Petroglyph forums, since it's my current haunt. I actually came here because I saw a post on this over there and was wondering what people over here think. (Mention this forum by name and I will let you oogle my banhammer)

On the other hand, if you want me to post HERE, GIEF BOP BETA KEY. Then I might have something to talk about.
    ====
ANYWAYS. On topic. What would it take for the version to actually merit their cost? I'm thinking autographed disks, since most of the other material is going to be on the internet two days after the game hits the shelves.

I would, of course, not mind the $60 on the basic version if it came with a coupon for the other campaigns. A game + 1 expansion is $100, so I'd like the Full game to fall into that price range before the bells and whistles of the collectors edition.
