RMP stands for rotations per minute, it's a measure of how fast the hard-disk spins, the faster, the quicker it gets the job done.

I am planning on buying the recommended computing system but i want to know the average cost and if it can be significantly altered by sales, such as black Friday or the day after x-mas.

    Thats true but not completely.
Most viruses just don't run on Macs. Since Macs and PCs run different type of programs, viruses for PC wont work on Mac and vis versa.
But yeah, if your downloading all kinds of things and going to shoddy websites youll get a virus.

Also, for the record, since people have been asking:
    Right off the website.

We all know that Blizzard make games which do not require a state of the art machine to run smoothly. So my guess for system requrements would be: 1.8 GHz Intel CPU or AMD equvalent, 1 GB of RAM, 2.5 GB HDD space and a DirectX 10 compatable VGA

I currently own an Intel Core2Duo E4500@2.2 GHz based workstation with 2GB or dual channel DDR memory @ 667MHz and a XFX 8500GT with 256 DDR video ram, fully compatable with DirectX 10. So I assume that if the game is released in the next 8 or 10 months I will be able to run it quite good ;)

And we all know that SC2 won't require a DX10 compatible GPU ;) It has already been confirmed that SC2 will have both a DX10 and a DX9 mode. And I doubt 2.5 GB will be enough... more like 6.5.

Well I'm ready then. I just bought a seriously loaded Toshiba laptop and it's all just waiting for SC2!

guess no one really answered my question.

My question was how much would the recommended computing system cost.

Depends on where you buy it from. But I would say around $2000 for a laptop and $1500 or less for a desktop.

yeah and most importantly, are you one of those rich babies that ONLY play their games on the ultra high settings?? or can you play while missing some not too important effects while saving a lot of money?

dont worry, the graphics cards will get really cheap once nvidia releases their new series and with a 8800 gt you will be just fine, 2 gb of ram, and if you can a dual core (cuad core isnt a good choice in my opinion).

If these requirements are correct, I would just have to upgrade my video card. ;D

cool! i dont think you will have any problems with this game, and to me xp is so much better for gaming, all those pretty direct 10 effects are just a waste on vista, damn that sucks ram like hell!

    It depends.

Do you want the most powerful card you can find or are you on a budget?

I don't know what money has to do with his question :) There are both budget and high-end cards for both nVidia and ATI/AMD.

Generally speaking, nVidia tends to have fewer compatibility issues.

If you buy nVIdia you are sure not to have any problems (normaly), and it isnt so costy. Im completly sure that i will be able to run SC2 on highest performance. I have a core 2 duo 2,2; 2GB 10xx RAM; And a 640 mb grafic card. And if the RAM isnt good enought (which it should be) I have a very good Harddisk (300mb/s). The only problem should be he CPU, but it should work.

As far as quality goes, Nvidia can not be topped. ATI cards just simply don't line up. They have a much lower resistance to failing under heat stresses and, heck, they just don't perform as well even if they're of the same specifications.

However, the price difference between an ATI (or other brand) card and an Nvidia card is sometimes great enough to counterbalance the performance issues. Sometimes you can move up a card in the ATI lineup and beat out the card you could afford with Nvidia.

Just be careful of what you purchase and price accordingly. Don't overbuy in video cards. If you're not going to use the specifications then don't buy that card. Only buy what you will use because otherwise you're just drawing unnecessary power and generating excess heat.
