Re: SC2 storyline - speculate or create ur own!!

OK I've just though about this just then.

In Starcraft 1 original's campaigns. There are only 3 heroes or famous characters that died. That is the 1st Overmind, Zasz, and Tassadar. OK, Fenix did die once in the original's story, but he came back to life.

In Brood War's campaigns, 7 heroes or characters died. Aldaris, Raszagal, Fenix, Duke, Stukov, Dugalle, and the 2nd Overmind.

So I think in starcraft 2's campaigns, we won't see too much heroes being killed, it's probably in the expansion that the real action starts.

it depends on how many new heroes are introduced, barely anyone died in sc original because we didnt have enough time to get to know the characters. I think we will see atleast one of the top three heroes die in sc2, we probably wont see any terran heroes killed (other than mengsk), but i can see a couple of cerebrates being killed.

This was just for fun . . . here is my made up Zerg campaign for StarCraft 2. It shall be the first chapter in the epic saga, so I hope you enjoy.

    • Prelude: After defeating her enemies and obtaining dominance over the sector, Kerrigan, the self-righteous queen of blades, sensed with fear that a great power loomed and watched carefully of the events unfolding. As her powers over the Zerg Swarm grew, she sensed with better clarity of the ever-growing presence of this dreadful unknown force. Kerrigan believed one day that the being or beings would enter the sector to challenge her reign. To prepare for this new threat, Kerrigan plans a full-scale assault to destroy her current enemies entirely once and for all to gain a stronger foothold over the war-ravaged sector. However, despite overwhelming odds, both Terran and Protoss have managed to survive and have made formidable defenses to secure their survivability while re-establishing their great empires. Without Duran to consult her, Kerrigan decides to fashion her very own generals. And so, over the years, Kerrigan gives birth (and I don’t mean literally ^_^) to 4 of her very own cerebrates, Durga, Sarosh, Xanthe, and you (the player). While these 4 new cerebrates will be coordinating the attacks on the Terran Dominion, Kerrigan’s first and most powerful Cerebrate slave (played by you in StarCraft original and Brood War) will be battling the protoss on shakarus.

    • Practice Mission: You are the newest addition to the new and improved Zerg Cerebrates. To ensure your brood’s success, you must learn from Kerrigan herself the tricks of the trade. You will be asked to build basic Zerg structures and units on an infested platform hovering over a small Terran home world to gain a basic understanding of game concepts.

    • Mission 1: The first step in this massive assault is to sever the Terran Dominion’s major resource funding by seizing their hold on the Kelmorian Combine. However, overwhelming numbers of defense systems heavily defend the planet around its orbit. The Cerebrate Durga has discovered a weakness. A massive generator powers each segment of the orbital platform defenses. All the Zerg would have to do is destroy one and pass through that segment once the defenses are powered down. Due to a large cluster of defenses surrounding the outlying area around each Generator, some discretion is in order. You will enter the region surrounding a generator with just a few drones; establish a base, build an army, and destroy the generator.
    -Difficulty: easy

    • Mission 2: With Kelmoria’s defenses down, the time has come to take hold of the planet. Establish a base, build an army, and destroy the enemy!
    -Difficulty: easy

    • Mission 3: While Durga remains on Kelmoria to prevent Terran forces from reclaiming it, you will be asked to assault the dominion’s major shipyard to diminish any immediate aerial reinforcements. However, you were expected, and a large task force is heading your way. You will have 6 minutes before Terran reinforcements arrive. Your mission is to destroy all the star ports occupying the shipyard.
    -Difficulty: intermediate

    • Mission 4: Kerrigan has detected that the dominion is using a tactical space platform just outside the orbit of Korhal itself for advance scouting. Structures called sensor domes are well placed on the platform to allow the dominion to detect any large movement signatures all across Terran Space. With Sarosh and Xanthe are busy eliminating the Terran Dominion’s outlying defenses, and no other way to bypass the platform’s security; Kerrigan decides to send in her newest additions of the swarm, the succubus. Disguised as terran ghosts, the succubuses were able to sneak by security and enter the orbital complex. You must lead the succubus’s into destroying each sensor dome.
    -Difficulty: intermediate

    • Mission 5: All preparations have been made; now it is time to assault Korhal directly, and eliminate the full bulk of the Terran Dominion. A Terran Dominion general has arrived to duke it out, and Jim Raynor will also be there to steal the show. Penetrate through the enemies’ defenses, and exterminate them!
    -Difficulty: intermediate

    • Mission 6: Despite Korhal’s heavy defenses, the overwhelming numbers of the swarm is slowly crippling the planet. Your forces have arrived just outside Korhal’s capital, Augustgrad. Beat through the outlying defenses, swarm through the city itself, and destroy Emperor Mengsk’s capital building. Unfortunately, Mengsk has ordered the use of his latest toy, portable psi disruptors. Although, not strong enough to reach across worlds, the psi disruptors being used by ghosts within Augustgrad were able to severely weaken your control over the brood. Every so often, one of your minions will turn against you. To end this effect, destroy the psi disruptors, and the ghosts operating them.
    -Difficulty: intermediate

    • Mission 7: During the end of your previous mission, Kerrigan proclaimed that the primary hive clusters on the infested platform are under attack . . . by renegade zerg forces! You are ordered to retreat from Korhal and rescue Kerrigan. However, large groups of zergs are blockading your way to Kerrigan’s primary hive. Beat through the blockade, and reach Kerrigan before she becomes overwhelmed. Sarosh will assist you in this mission by providing you with some of his fiercest warriors. Once you arrive, you must build up a stronger army and destroy the renegade cerebrate commanding the brood, Durga.
    -Difficulty: hard

    • Mission 8: Now that it’s safe to talk, Kerrigan explains that while you were assaulting Korhal, Dark Templar had sneaked onto the infested platform and murdered Xanthe. Xanthe’s death had caused a severe psionic feedback to Kerrigan that weakened her, and had caused Durga and his brood to become insane, while making Xanthe’s brood passive. In addition, Dark Templar forces occupying the platform have built structures that have caused all nearby hive clusters to reach a passive state. Kerrigan has ordered you to destroy each of these Dark Templar structures. Because there is no way to build forces on the platform, you will receive reinforcements from Sarosh each time you destroy one of the structures. Also, you can take control of passive zergs belonging to Xanthe’s brood by walking next to them. Don’t let your cerebrate unit die or the mission is failed. After destroying the structures, you will rally your remaining minions to take out the female dark templar commander’s forces.
    -Difficulty: hard

    • Mission 9: Now that the hive clusters have returned from their passive state, it is time to eliminate the Dark Templar from this sector. Your mission is to defeat all protoss forces. Once it is done, Kerrigan will request that you transport her to Zeratul’s position for a little one on one. Despite her temporarily weakened state, Kerrigan still manages to defeat Zeratul. Zeratul proclaims that revenge was not his purpose that Kerrigan is more dangerous then she knows, and her presence is only further assisting a far-far greater threat. With that been said, Zeratul vanishes, and the remainder of his protoss forces retreat.
    -Difficulty: hard

    • Mission 10: With the destruction of Durga’s brood, and the interference of the Dark Templar, Terran forces on Korhal were given enough time to rebuild most of their defenses. Even now, Mengsk is creating an immense fortification around the perimeter of his crucial military bases. If he is to succeed, then every effort up to this point will all be in vain. You must destroy the enemy bases, and gain a foothold over the Terran Dominion at last. When you are successful, Duran, with a new look will appear to Kerrigan and congratulate her on a job well done. However, he warns her that her reign is coming to a close, and a new, far greater power will take her place. He thanks her for allowing his endeavors to reach this far, and proclaims that a being known as the Pandemin will be among her soon.
    -Difficulty: insane

    • Aftermath: Kerrigan’s campaign was a success, although she had lost a great deal of her broods. As she continues to scour the weakened dominion, she felt shaken with fear that it was already too late, and the coming of a monstrous power was drawing near.

Hope you liked it, I haven’t given much thought to either the Terran and Protoss chapters, but feel free to add-on from this one.

500 minerals bonus rewarded to ShoGun for this superb post.

Re: SC2 storyline - speculate or create ur own!!

Here is my brief prediction of the plot for Starcraft 2.

    Campaign 1 - ZERG
Taking a 'break' from her conquest of the galaxy (she has already defeated the major forces in BW), Kerrigan begins to look for Duran. Duran does not want to be found, so she has to fight through his Terran forces. She finally finds Duran, and he reveals what he is doing. Kerrigan tries to get Duran to side with her, but he refuses, and as she is about to attack an unknown Protoss fleet invades Char and she is forced to defend herself.
    Campaign 2 - PROTOSS
Artanis and the remains of the Protoss fleet scour the galaxy looking for Raynor and Zeratul. Some Protoss templar embark on a mission to retake Aiur from the grip of the Zerg. Having found Zeratul, but not Raynor, Artanis returns and joins the battle. All seems won, but the same unknown Protoss fleet that invaded Char in the Zerg campaign intervenes. It is revealed that the Protoss fleet is led by a man similar to Duran...but who is not Duran.
    Campaign 3 - TERRAN
Mengsk, reeling from his defeat at the hands of Kerrigan, rebuilds the Dominion, duking it out with an mysterious warlord for control of Korhal. In a climactic battle, the warlord turns out to be none other than Jim Raynor himself, and he assassinates Mengsk. Immediately after, a wounded Zeratul lands on the planet and reveals to Raynor about Duran's Terran forces and the Protoss fleet that attacked Aiur. Hybrids come out of nowhere and Zeratul and Raynor fight for their lives. They finally kill the shady character revealed at the end of the Protoss campaign, but Duran escapes. Kerrigan launches an attack on Korhal again, trying to take advantage of the weary Raynor and Zeratul, but Artanis arrives with reinforcements and Raynor is true to his vow, killing the Queen of Blades.

This is probably very far from what the plotline will actually turn out to be, but I would like to see some Hybrid/Duran action, as well as a Jim Raynor that personally kills Kerrigan.

Mengsk rebuilds most of his empire, and raises an army just in case the Dominion is under siege. He trains special ghosts that are even deadlier than what Kerrigan was. Of course, Kerrigan ruling over the Koprulu Sector now, awaits a mysterious force toarrive.

Re: SC2 storyline - speculate or create ur own!!

@Shogun: Haha, reminds me a bit of my "Chapter Summary" thread. for the effort!
EDIT: Only one thing really came to my mind while reading - the "real" Psi Disrupters (the known ones, though) were destroyed - essentially, Mengsk wouldn't have been able to create such devices unless he came over their blueprints (which he may have, i dunno :p) which i believe the Confederacy took to the grave (since they created the structures). He could also have used technology derived from the Psi Emitters to create the devices... anything is possible.
Other than that little confusion, great job, and i also enjoyed when Zeratul told Kerrigan of the far-far greater threat (which Duran told Zeratul of in SC: BW) kinda knit your "theory" together with the actual story :)

I do infact think the Zerg needs a bit more Cerebrates in the campaign, so many of them were killed off in the Brood Wars (in addition to Daggoth and his underlings morphing into Overmind 2). I always kinda liked the Cerebrates, despite being huge, sickly... caterpillars?

I personally think that the Psi Disruptor will make a return. I assume that everyone can sense that Kerrigan will die in the climax of the story, either in SC2 itself or one of the expansions. So in maybe the Psi Disruptor will play an important role on bring Kerrigan down.

And I would like to see more cerebrates too :) Brood War Zerg campaigns were just Kerrigan, Duran and the player. That was it. More cerebrate with its own identity would be nice to see. I actually prefer working for the Overmind when playing the Zerg campaign. And co-operating and communicating with other cerebrates to work to a common goal for the Zerg. I just don't like affiliating with the queen b*itch. :)

@Mc2: hehe i agree, i always liked the Overmind better... his calm, fatherly kind of attitude against everything was so cool, especially considering what goals he had. And Daggoth, Zasz and the other Cerebrates were just awesome... that is, until Zasz died and Daggoth went all "OH LETS OVERMIND-MERGE DOODS".

    But yeah:
Kerry dies, gets replaced with real Overmind in Expansion, more Cerebrates in both basic and expansion game. Awesome.

Blizzard will sure to do something great to the storyline near the ending. After Kerrigan's death (let's hope so), the player might even become the overmind itself.

No, Blizzard will not find and end to the storyline.

Blizzard will just let us follow an improbable scenario, and then will blow our computer up ! And after that the screen will write THE END

    :p

Maybe the Overmind was a powerfull destroyer of all living shit (without Zerg) but I like Kerrigan much more. She is not a total nemesis like the OM was, just a cold heart bitch fighting for power (like Arcturus).

Anyway I expect she will die and, after her death, the new leader of the Zerg will come (maybe some new nemesis for all creations ;))

I hope that Blizzard will not end the storyline sadly, or just defeatistly (if that word exists). There should be a good morality, or something good else. Like Kerrigan who dies, Arcturus who becomes a beggar, Raynor who becomes a loser, Zeratul who becomes the hero of the galaxy, and Duran who becomes .... I don't know ...

LOL just kidding about Mengsk and Raynor.

I just saw a film (28 weeks later) that talks about a virus who contaminated 99 % of Earth, and in England there were the survivals, with doctors who tried to find a vaccine. .... Finally Earth became infested.

I hope SC2 will finish well.
