For the campaign we don't know what Blizzard is planning to do. Of course the campaign must follow the story board. So the gameplay must follow it too. And above all the cinematics !

So the cinematics must follow the scenario, and if they haven't finished the scenario yet, we can wait for ONE year for the cinematics !

Don't forget that with the cinematics there will be movie effects inside the gameplay too ! You are playing, and then if a hero is talking there will be a sort of zoom to the hero talking alone or with other untis, and commanding them to do something. There will be narrations between the units.

    Another chapter :

Each effect created by a unit ability must lead to a specific movement for each unit .
For instance : the anti-gravity. If a marine, a ghost, a reaper, a medic, a tank and a Thor subish anti-gravity, the marine must panick and run in the air, the ghost must panick too and run in the air. Same thing for the reaper, but maybe because this unit can fly he will not control his jump-pack. And he will maybe fly anywhere inside the area of the antigravity. The tank will maybe rotate around itself. And the Thor .... I don't know what it will do.

But normally those units will not be able to attack air units because they are not in stable position.

Do you see what I am talking about ? What for anti-gravity against Protoss and Zerg units. Each unit needs an effect.
And th'at just for antigravity ! What for the other abilities ?!

So I personally believe that including the balance of the game this will come maybe for Christmas 2009 !! ;'(

wrong. The representative at the BWWI starcraft 2 panel said that a third of the campaign at that time was PLAYABLE. that means that they could have the terran part playable and just finishing up on the protoss and zerg campaigns. well you could be right, they could only have a third done, but they said a third playable.

I really look foward to see more of the Singleplayer. With those recent pics showing a ''different'' Starcraft2 style we will see what the Devs thought about SC2 before the pros complained about clutter, color distinction, big explosions and real physics.

What with the new report that the game is still in deep internal alpha, and that they havent' planned the beta and that it will be months, we could be looking at a Nov 2009 release, very very disappointing. Blizzcon happens during my Bday, I was hoping for the beta then, now it sounds abit more doubtful. Classic Blizzard slowness, hopefully will be surpassed by classic Blizzard "masterpiece" quality game.

For the campaign now witht the newest technologies Blizzard has now no limit and can add a lot of things. I think the campaign will take maybe more than 6 moths to be complete. The campaign will have nearly no link with what we saw in Brood War, I mean the objectives, etc .... Yes of course we will have always to destroy all enemies, but additional options, and a lot of them, will be added.

Can't wait anymore to play the campaign !!

  7. Currently, I'm several times more hyped over the StarCraft 2 campaign becaue the "itch" of StarCraft mutliplayer is satisfied by StarCraft (1)'s mutliplayer for the most part right now. But, StarCraft (1)'s singleplayer has been played so many times by me that a lot of it has lost it's effect. I complete the entire thing probably once every 2 months on average. Sometimes more :D

considering the terran battlecruiser doesnt have the choice of having that ground aoe effect anymore and now that air aoe attack oes this mean that the cruiser well also get a digg design? im thinkin a battlecruiser with small missle bays everywhere..

Maybe Blizzard will cut some units, period !

I am sure you don't know that the Valkyrie was already created for the Alpha or Beta version of Starcraft. However this unit just appeared in Brood War. Blizzard had just to take back a unit it already threw to the junk !

Wow, look at the first post. 6/22/08. Prodigal says the stores list December 3rd... And now at the end of August, we don't even have a beta yet.

  12. ^ I would just like to inform that it is a well known, and scientific fact that our blood is blue ...

Back on-topic .. Did anyone REALLY believe that the game would be released by Christmas or that EBGames/GameStop date was accurate?

I believed it could come out this year... back in March of this year, as I thought the zerg race looked good from the outset.

The multiplayer is mostly done (except the beta test balancing, of course), and we know so little about the campaign and planned battle.net features that we can't predict when it'll come out.

So, of course, I'll do just that. Late 2009 or early 2010, based on the development time of Warcraft III (only 3.75 years since Brood War's release date) and ignoring the development of StarCraft II between 2003 and 2005. (Otherwise, by this logic, StarCraft II would be out by now!)

  14. Oh, OF COURSE, I meant recently. I myself held onto the hope of Christmas sometime around March, too.

I've always been more lenient and hoped for a 2009-2011 release.

  16. I've been following Blizzard since WarCraft 2, and I know about their release habits ... I guess I was just holding on to hope. Deep down I think I knew but I figured even if it's released in December atleast that'd break up the wait into a few less tortuous chunks.

  18. Quoting unnecessarily, please do not quote more than you post.

I already knew that it SHOULD be in 2009 :D

Does this look good? Link: http://pc.ign.com/articles/097/097996p1.html

It's a preview of Warcraft III from August 31st, 2001. Just a note, Warcraft III came out July 2008.

It sounds like StarCraft II reached a similar stage before August 31st, 2008, and if all things were equal (they aren't), StarCraft II would be expected to come out July 2009.

However, I could just be suffering from wishful thinking, and the build of Warcraft III in that preview could be more advanced than the current StarCraft II build.

I'm hoping to see some fresh, independent analysis.

  20. A RPG RTS with heroes, and a sequel to an RTS such as StarCraft are hardly comparible.
