Starcraft 2 Release Date?

@DarkPort. Wait for Blizzard to reveal the release date.

 

Doesn't it feel like the beta could hit any day? Maybe Blizzard will commemorate the release of Starcraft 1 by releasing Starcraft 2 on March 31st (One can hope?) Or at least have the beta out by then...then again we have been let down by Blizzard countless times already. Remember the 2007 predicted release?? LOL!

Blizzard is doing the best thing for you by not shipping it it 'til it's ready.

Also, what 2007 predicted release? Are you talking about the community? Blizzard definitely never said they'd have the game out by 2007.

 

I'll happily wait until 2015 if it means the game is as balanced as SC1 was.

 

I say we grab our torches and pitchforks and march on Blizzard HQ and demand a release date.

This is the grandfather thread for Release Dates. If anything, this should be the ONLY thread where the release date gets discussed. Also Blizzard is not doing any of us a favor by delaying the release. Blizzard strategy games in Beta (or even Alpha phase) are extremely fun and polished.

 

This thread is fine. As long as nobody is claiming to know it, it's game. Speculate all you want.

starcraft 1 was released 31.03.1998. and beta was 1 month earlyer. 11 year later ....

 

Where did you hear Blizzard is delaying the release?

They can't reach beta until battle.net 2.0 is ready, and they can't host multiplayer games until that's ready. One leads directly to the other.

 

I agree that Blizzard's alphas and betas are extremely fun (better than a VAST majority of fully released games) but rushing the release will ONLY harm us in the long run. I'm perfectly fine with the wait. With all I've got going in my life right now, the weeks and months just fly away. It was almost exactly one year ago when I started checking StarCraft 2 forums daily (most of the other forums I registered at around February 13). This past year flew by insanely quickly so I suggest that instead of complaining and making yourself miserable because of the wait you go find something else to do. Be it gaming, other entertainment media, or something else entirely.

 

A chairman on Blizzard's board of directors said in early 2008 that SC2 would be released 4th quarter 2008.

 

No, they said it was an (unlikely) possibility. A release date was never given.

 

Actually no. He went ahead and said that it was going to be released 4th quarter 2008, however this was a business objective that had nothing to do with Blizzard's actual internal development.

 

Yes, I think I remember what you're talking about. You're talking about someone that was talking about things they shouldn't be. I point still stands though that Blizzard never had a firm release date.

For clarification, when was this and where was this said? I remember reading it but can't remember the contents of it.
