Yeah, that's why they should be completely overhauled or just kept out of the game. If they're back, I want them to be so different that no one recognizes them.

Nice vid, but i have some complains...
bashing stalkers- who said that they dont fit? Similarity to the crypt fiend doesnt take it out in my eyes. If there was no WC3 nobody would even noticed it. Blink...well this is more constructive critic.

Ghost- Theres rifles are actually ok, dont understand what is wrong with it.

Thor difficult to micro- so dont micro it at all, use it to destroying buildings, countering enemy tankers (Ultralisks, Collosus), make it your ultimate tanker. Other units are to micromenagement.

sory for my english, i hope u understand a lot ;)

After watching the movie "Whats wrong about starcraft 2" And since I did agree to some of it. I feel like putting my opinions out here. (Risk of being hated) :p

Mothership: Never liked it. Only cool thing was it's ability to stop missiles.
Siege Tank: Still looks bad, skip the design, remake it from scratch. Or go back to the old one from SC1.
Shield and Bayonet for Marines: Hate them, looks and feels awful. Why did Blizzard even consider this.
Immortals: Something is bugging me about this unit. Dont know if it's the looks of the unit or the entire design.
Stalkers: I never liked that they also got legs to walk on, works on the Dragoons and the immortals. But here, it's a bit to much. But the blinking ability seems intresting. Comparing them to a Crypt Fiend seems just plain stupid. And they should have that dark voice theme, suits perfectly.
Collossus: It hurt my Starcraft-heart when I first saw it. It's concept appears first in Half Life 2 where it did a great impression, then in the movie War of the Worlds, then C&C. Now also in SC2.
The Sci-Fi genre seems hooked on this concept.
I'm disappointed that Blizzard fell into this "new" hot thing instead of comming up with something of there own. Though it has to be said, that Blizzard sure implemented this unit in a useful way. I might learn to like it.

Soul Hunter: I'm glad they took it away. Hope they don't bring it back without some changes.
Reavers: I sure will miss them, alot. But I guess we can live without them. But considering it's new look, i'm glad they took it away ;). (though I really love the looks it have in SC1. Dont understand how they manage to get so far away on the looks in SC2. I mean, look at those legs. Come on!)

But alot of things looks awsome with SC2. My biggest plus goes to:
The Zealot's charge ability: Seems so damn cool and feels so damn right.
Twilight Archon: After making it hover as it's supposed to. It kicks ass! Though I wish it did fire with both hands as in SC1, instead of only one hand as it seems to now.
Reapers: Rock my world, moves smooth, jump packs and dual pistols is awsome. Way to go Blizz!
The buildings are really nice looking so are also the environment, and the rest of the game. It might look messy in big battles, but Blizzard have these things in mind. They wont make another WC3.
Thor is just so damn cool looking, and he fits the Terran so well. Love it, even though it might be slow.
The Protoss Warp in ability seems awsome aswell.
The Phase Prism's ability to power Protoss buildings seems great.
    Nydus Worm is cool.

Blizzard still has all the time in the world to make this game, and im sure they wont disappoint us.
Personally I doubt the game will be out earlier then 2009.

This post got alot larger then expected.
These are my personal opinions as of now. Keep the flaming for yourself, pls.

One thing I hope for is more texture detail on units and buildings. Nothing heavy though.

LOL yes! It's just like in WarCraft III when Arthas says "You will know endless torment!" when he is attacking a building. So funny...

mothership being downgraded i understand... the seeing a unit thing... tis different when a screen is being video taped rather than seeing it in person. the buildings look just fine to me, who cares that the stalker is similar to a warcraft character its not that catastrophic... and zelaots, ninjas? hahaha not really.

I think that the Zealots do look like ninjas, but that is what makes them so cool, anyway Protoss do have a kind of Eastern feel to them... I mean the Tempest produced drones called Shuriken which are (and I quote from Wikipedia) "traditional Japanese concealed weapons that were generally used for throwing, and sometimes stabbing or slashing an opponent's arteries."

If you study Ninjutsu you become a Ninja, if you study Karate, do you become a Krate? What about Jujutsu, Do you become a Jinja?

Wait wait what about Judo.... You become a Jew. lol

Its the combination of blades, fluidity of movement and a face that looks like it is masked that makes Zealots slightly, and I mean very slightly resemble Ninjas.

I really hope that the people from Blizzard that see that video don't make any changes to the way the Zealot looks. I think it's a beautiful unit and the movement is fantastic. No change necessary.

I thought the critique from the video was a little rough.

I mean, there were somethings that didn't seem to be fair to be judged as of yet.

    1. For example, "find the scv" was a little overboard IMO given that A) the game ISN'T done I'm sure there will be tweaks towards the end of the process to make sure things look cleaner and more crisp, B) it was a freaking YouTube video, I could barely find the battlecruiser (at LEAST know that Youtube is not a fair place for such a presentation) and C) When you have a 3D RTS, and with a certain camera angle set the way it was, units WILL block each other. Heck, stuff even blocked each other out and got messy even in SC1. I dunno, I felt like that critique was jumping the gun a little. I mean, I FULLY support the idea that SC2, despite graphic quality and fancy effects, MUST maintain a clear, crisp visual to facilitate good gameplay. I just don't think it's fair to tackle that problem at this point.

    2. Zealots look great. IMO they've developed a sort of style and grace that I'm sure SC1 tried to accomplish but couldn't as effectively because it was working with sprites. I think we've all come to love the zealot but the attack sound effects didn't actually make much sense when u think about it. They were side blades but it sounded like they were clanging metal up against something, even organic units like hydras. The zealots in SC2 make a "Zhhh" sound that sounds a lot more appropriate to what an energy concentrated strike should. Also, their movement is more graceful, NOT somehow more ninja like. I mean, if anything, DT's in SC1 would have been kinda ninja like. And heck, even if the zealots ARE ninja-like, is it really that much of a problem? I just don't get the problem.

    3. Siege tanks look futuristic and upgraded from the original. I wouldn't necessarily say better just yet, but definitely not worse. It's not a toy. It really doesn't look like one to me. The guy who made the video made me feel like he was one of those guys who would love SC2 to just be SC1 in 3D, with all textures and geometry to look like it came out of a war-torn WWII scheme. Rugged this and rusty that. I personally like that as well, but it doesn't need to be EVERYTHING. Games like Company of Heroes get to have that more monochromatic green army thing just cuz it fits, but Starcraft GETS to have a lil fun and vibrancy to their units and structures IMO. I would agree, that the color contrast can be desaturated a lil. The color scheme for Terrans can still look new and advanced from the original and maintain the ability to not look on the verge of childish. The red they used for the units can easily be toned down to a greyed out maroon or something.

Anyway, there were definitely things I agreed with the video as well, but this post is long enough as it is, so I'll just leave it with the ones I didn't so much agree with and see what you guys make of it.

    1) SC bunkers looked simple and practical : Armoured dome + base + 4 ramps to access.

    2) SC2 bunkers has too much different parts, ie the top of the dome has weird pieces, the "ramp/stairs" look enormous..and it takes away from the practicality of the terrans.

    ----

3)This is exactly why too many beam weapons is stupid (or at least more cumbersome than it's worth in cool-factor).

Before, proton cannon/dragoon, and arbitor would have energy balls, which flew fast enough to not entirely fill the screen. 3 colossus firing at ground units make it really hard to find. Throw in warp ray, the anti-ground special of the battle cruiser, the multi-shot of the phoenix, and the ol' soul hunters beam-of-death and you'll have a hard to controlling any non-grouped units.

    4) Is it just me..or do infantry terran units not clump as well now ? The whole game feels more "zoomed in" maybe.

Good thoughts, but I'm afraid I have to disagree on (most) things:

    1) It looked simple because the engine was too primitive.

    2) Well, what do you expect, a bunker can't just have a metal wall surrounding the inside, it needs technology to function properly.

    3) The colossus and warp ray lasers are thin enough so that it's still possible to see what's under it, unless you have more than 10 of them, which is very unlikely, and the plasma turret ability hardly lasts long enough to be a problem. And soul hunters aren't in the game.

    4) I agree, the units are a bit more spaced out, but that's probably because of the new pathing system. I'd imagine that it'll actually be better against splash damage.

I think SC2 was more of a side attraction for most Blizzcon goers anyways, compared to like 8 million people on WoW, SC players are virtually nonexistent.
