StarCraft 2 Fansite Q&A Series (StarFeeder)

The thing is that every insectoid, alien swarm has something along the lines of a 'Brood Lord', and, with the Zerg, it's not even as though it is. I mean, they tried to make the Queen more like an actual Queen, which could be said to be the lord of her brood, and then they go out and do this? It's like naming Zerglings as 'Zerg Chieftains'. If anything, this is a more fitting name for the Overseer, and we all know it's in desperate need of a makeover, and at least then it would be a more original concept for a Brood Lord, instead of being yet another massive and strong attacker.

And yeah, 'Swarm Guardian' was still a gimmicky name, which is why I'd rather they just change it back to 'Guardian'. They're just changing things for the sake of changing things. They're not actually making anything new. As I said, a rose by any other name.

But again, the best part about this is that we'll be getting a new model out of it.

 

I think it's at least a better name than swarm guardian.

 

I'll drink to that, the name Swarm Guardian sounded terrible to me. I like the name Brood Lord, although I'm not so sure about the unit the name was given to.

 

Why not call it Broodalisk?

Brood Lord sounds like something from the eighties.

Very un-Blizzard IMO. Better than Swarm Guardian, but still a bit cheesy.

No clue Tychus, anyway the Brood Lord sounds really awesome and i'm looking forward to the model of it and in action.

I was quite surprised when they said that the ZvZ matchup was quite difficult but the Roaches have started to become one of the key units for the Zerg atm. I mean, imagine Ultralisks with the regeneration ability XD

 

See? People have different opinions. Isn't it amazing how that works?

On-topic: I hope Zerg versus Zerg isn't like it was in StarCraft: Brood War. I want to see a wide variety of units used for different circumstances.

 

I wonder what their going to do with the old swarm guardian model?

 

More likely Map editor, since they might actually just call it 'Guardian' but that's just a guess.

That's not the same thing as reusing names. That's like saying they reused the word ' Barracks ' even though that's an actual English word.

 

Black wing lair was just old wow and also the name suits the unit being the lord of the broods and all.

 

Am I the only one who thought Kerrigan couldn't get enough of saying the word brood when I played the starcraft: brood wars campaign?

I still think brood lord is an okay name though.
