Starcraft 2 battle.net account problem

    Here's my situation:

I bought SCII yesterday and installed it and worked fine, until i disconnected from the internet and attempted offline play. It said that my game client was not authorized and I need at least one Starcraft II character on the account, whatever that means.

I come back today and it works while I have an internet connection, but not anymore, because I cannot connect to Battlenet. ( I am in NZ maybe the server's down here?)

I wrote Blizzard tech support about the failure to authorize and the inability to play offline and they sent me this long completely useless response:

    "Greetings!

Thank you for your inquiry regarding StarCraft II.

At this time, StarCraft II requires an active internet connection to play. This is stated in the System Requirements on the retail box, as well as our online System Requirements. Without an active internet connection, you will not be able to log in to Battle.net to authenticate your copy of StarCraft II.

Similar to our World of Warcraft game, players who purchase StarCraft II are purchasing an account to access the game. It is through your individual account that you are able to access game content. We understand that this is a very different feel than the original StarCraft game, and may have caused some confusion. Each player who wishes to play StarCraft II will need to purchase their own account either digitally from our online store (https://us.battle.net/account/activation/landing.html?product=S2&key&purchase) or from a local game retailer.

All players with a StarCraft II account can download the game to any computer at any time from their account manager at http://us.battle.net without any restrictions on how many computers you have installed it on.

Once you are able to authenticate your StarCraft II account, if you wish to play in offline mode, you will need to disconnect any internet connection from the computer. The offline mode was designed to allow players to play the single player campaign under guest when there may be a disruption of internet service or while traveling without an internet connection. Any player who is playing in offline mode will need to re-authenticate their account online 30 days past the previous authentication. When this time period has passed, you will be met with a message instructing you to connect to the internet to authenticate your StarCraft II account. Once you do this, you will have another 30 days since that authentication time to play in the offline mode before needing to re-authenticate.

While in offline mode, you will not be able to play Multiplayer with other players. Players will not be eligible for achievements while playing the single player campaign. Any achievements that may have been missed will not be able to be regained. Also, your campaign will not be saved to the battle.net servers but on your local computer.

Hope this has cleared up any concerns you may have had regarding the required use of internet and offline mode questions you may have had. I hope you enjoy StarCraft II!

If you have any further questions, please feel free to let us know.

    Product: StarCraft II
    Category: Installation or Patching Issues

    Description --------------------------------

I cannot play offline! I bought starcraft 2 as a download copy from the battlenet website. I have tried reinstalling it 3 times, but whenever I try to play in offline mode it says I have to authorize. I have connected to battlenet numerous times on my computer, through the starcraft client. What do I do? Please help.

I looked around the forums to see what I could find, but no solutions yet.

I'm using the digital download version and the order status is still "queued", for whatever that's worth. I have received no order confirmation email.

    Good luck to you all,

    cheers

May or may not have found the problem for us download users.

    (the last post)

So I did what Doombringer said and found I WAS connecting through the EU server.

Thus there was no association of the account. Waiting for my friend to get here with his disk set....this is getting old.

One week later, and battlenet is still not permitting you to play?

You lot should start an official complaint thread / petition somewhere, and get others in your situation to come and sign it.

Speaking out as a crowd, your suffering will not be ignored.

  5. Salvation for digital download in us

Hey everyone, to people in the US that cannot connect, check if the your current game client is connecting to the europe server in battlenet by going to your hard drive in computer, progam files, starcraft II, logs, and then click on teh downloader or something.

If it is connecting to the eu server,

go to battlenet and download the US game client.

go to manage games and download game client in the battlenet site.

download the game, check if it is connecting to the us server and log in afterwards.

    thanks for reading!

When you log into battle.net, you use the same email address you used when signing up at us.battle.net. Log into us.battle.net and attempt (or whatever region you are in) and check to make sure that is where you put the guest key. Also, did you download the StarCraft II client from Blizzard, or using a random torrent (not recommended).
