What you need to do is either go into internet explorer and into internet options or follow the steps below:

    Start > run> inetcpl.cpl

this will open up your ie internet options window.

    Select the connections tab

    click lan settings

if checked, uncheck proxy server settings

this right here is what i did and my updater worked straight away and i have updated the game and been happily playing albeit only for a few minutes as i wanted to share what worked for me to see if it would help anyone else out.

DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW TO DO THIS ON APPLE MAC OS X SNOW LEOPARD 10.6.4
I'M USING AN iMAC DESKTOP, 3.06GHz INTEL CORE DUO 2, 4 GB RAM, 1TB HD, RADEON ATi HD 4670 GRAPHIC CARD

I HAVE MANAGED TO INSTALL SC2 FULLY
BUT WHEN IT COMES TO UPDATING THE PATCH FOR THE GAME USING BLIZZARD DOWNLOADER I GET STUCK AT 65% & 3.3MB LEFT OF DATA TO DOWNLOAD AND A MESSAGE COMES UP

"THERE WERE MULTIPLR PROBLEMS SAVING DATA"

IF ANYONE ELSE IS USING AN APPLE MAC COMPUTER TO PLAY THE GAME PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF YOU ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE

You actually got to talk to a live person at Blizzard? Right now all calls to Blizzard's technical support line go to an answering machine.

I would have never imaged that SC2 would be such a non-functioning product. Maybe this is the first sign of downhill for Blizzard. The company created a lot of high expectations for SC2 among the fans, then drops the ball in a ceremonious fashion. On top of that, they are not available to take the call. This is how business good will is destroyed.

If you are unable to run the patcher.

Because blizzard can’t be bothered with a direct download for the out of box patch.

I have one here. Download the zip file. Extract as is into your starcraft II folder.

run the game and the patcher will load up and patch the game so you can start it.

My patcher got stuck at 16 % and didn’t go any further and locked up my net connection.

The stupid bit torrent updater that they have is so ****. They have direct downloads for all their other patches / games. Very poor form indeed. Had the game for 2 days and could not pay it.

Now playing it online and the campaign is so awesome so far. Best 80 bucks I’ve spent this year!
I do feel like I should be compensated because of how **** it is that it needs to be patched out of the box. Hate this always online crap, its a reason why people pirate **** in the first place.

tried that zip file and extracted the whole thing into the starcraft2 folder. Still the same problem for me.

Interestingly enough, after I had tried it, I checked the starcraft2 folder again and all the files that had been extracted into there had disappeared. I have no idea whats going on now, I just want to play some good old starcraft lol

The problem is certainly related to case sensitivity on mac. ****ing ridiculous if you ask me. At any rate, install the game to a disk image at it will install the update fine. Create an alias from the image and put it in the apps directory if you would like to have it in your apps folder. Unbelievable!!!

Such a stupid bug that will likely never be fixed.

thats strange, because i used it on my 32bit version of windows on my 32 bit game and it worked.

and all the files are the x86 ones on the x64 ones.. toolburger.

you put the files in a folder called Updates and the torrent files in the root directory of the SCII folder.

    e.g.

these files go in the "Updates" folder create one if you dont have one.
c:\program files\starcraft2\updates (where ever your folder is)
    sc2-15405-16117-x86-Win-enUS-game
    sc2-15405-16117-x86-Win-enUS-campaign
    sc2-1-22280-x86-Win-enUS-bnet-bin
    sc2-5760-6699-x86-Win-enUS-bnet-base
    sc2-15405-16117-x86-Win-enUS-locale
    sc2-1.x.x.x-1631-x86-Win-enUS-tools

these files go in the root of the sc2 folder
    c:\program files\starcraft2
    sc2-1.x.x.x-1631-x86-Win-enUS-tools.torrent
    sc2-1.x.x.x-1631-x86-Win-enUS-tools-component-dl
    sc2-1-22280-x86-Win-enUS-bnet-bin.torrent
    sc2-1-22280-x86-Win-enUS-bnet-bin-component-dl
    sc2-5760-6699-x86-Win-enUS-bnet-base.torrent
    sc2-5760-6699-x86-Win-enUS-bnet-base-component-dl
    sc2-15405-16117-x86-Win-enUS-campaign.torrent
    sc2-15405-16117-x86-Win-enUS-campaign-component-dl
    sc2-15405-16117-x86-Win-enUS-game.torrent
    sc2-15405-16117-x86-Win-enUS-game-component-dl
    sc2-15405-16117-x86-Win-enUS-locale.torrent
    sc2-15405-16117-x86-Win-enUS-locale-component-dl

dont put all the files in the root folder only the .torrent and -dl files all the others have to go in the "Updates" folder

then start the game. the patcher will run and "download the pach" instantly without having to torrent or lock up.

So either we need to figure out how to force apply this patch, OR there is some online authentication required to get it working.

I tried it and everything was deleted from the folder, so weird...

    Here guys try this: http://www.yougetsignal.com/tools/open-ports/

Let it auto-fill your IP and then in "port" put "3000" - that's the port Blizzard uses to download the patch. Click test port and if it comes back closed then there you have it, your internet connection is blocking the use of port 3000.

I have no way to change this so I am basically waiting for these lazy idiots to do something about it.

This will only work with US version of the game I guess? Since all the files say enUS

My one is looking for Win-enGB files

That's interesting, appears my 3000 port has been blocked all this time, probably through the router firewall where I am. So we know that there can be several different issues causing the same problem with the updater such as proxies and firewalls. I feel like forcing the user to download the update the game through a P2P style updater was a terrible idea on Blizzards part considering many shared internet connections in places such as dorms or, in my case, a summer job at a camp, block that kind of stuff so unwanted garbage doesn't get in the system. Seeing as it has been over two days since launch, I would think Blizzard would have the direct download for the patch up on their site. I've looked around on their support and they have a whole bunch of links for the download but it isn't even there. This all isn't helped by the fact that we can't even get on to the community site to post our issues because we need to create an IN-GAME character to post things...lol

I'm going to be driving to a Starbucks tonight and trying my luck there. I'll post back what happens and, if nothing works, back to the drawing board again.

I've it closed too... as you said we both cant do anything about that... I also tried to export all the files into my SC2 folder and tried to launch it and happend me the same as you... it didnt worked and suddenly all the files dissapeared.... something very strange...

Another thing is that we need the enGB patch... or at least me because Im from London... I dunno what the hell is going to happen.... hope blizzard fix this soon...

    any other solutions?

it's a scam! do not put your blizzard account information into that site or you will get hacked! seriously, no blizzard support page has .moonfruit.com in the url
