"Starcaft 2 requires a patch"?

I still can't even play the game since purchasing it from a store yesterday
Installing the game if fine, but when it comes to updating the patch and getting to 65% and message comes up "There were multiple problems saving data" rips my undies!!!

I'm using a new 2010 Apple iMac desktop running OS X Snow Leopard, 3.06GHz Intel Core Duo 2, 4 GB RAM, 1 TB HD, Raedon ATi HD 4670 Graphics Card I'm pretty sure it meets Recommended Computer specs to run the game as well

 

Someone mentioned there are mirrors for the patch around, can we get links please???

 

guys, i fixed mine by going into run > msconfig > "normal startup"

i had had mine set to selective startup, to prevent some high needs programs from running in the background, but obviously i needed one or more of them that i had unselected

I feel with you guys... I am not happy with Blizzards buggy release. It seems there is no simple fix for this problem given all the different causes / fixes. Even though I got my copy running now, having to deal with this tainted the whole release.

Hopefully Blizzard gets this fixed for everyone soon.

 

I know i cant post on battle.net either cuz of this stupid in game character thing.You guys cant patch game and i can patch game but cant play it cuz there no video only sound.I tried 5 diff drivers for my 9800 gtx.

 

I'm 100% agree with you guys, is so frustating to be waiting for one of the best games in the world for 10 years, and then when you buy it, the first ****ing day you cant play it.

I really think that the perfect solution would be to have a mirror where everyone could download the patch without launching StarCraft 2 getting crashed.

Please, if anyone knows any mirror where we can download the patch for the StarCraft II. LET US KNOW AS SOON AS POSSIBLE PLEASE!!!

I FOUND THE ANSWER i believe, i had the same problem with starcraft 2 requires a patch and it kept closing, starting up and asking me the same thing, i looking around the internet and found out that turning off your proxy settings for internet explore and Firefox helps i turned off internet explores and it starting downloading it as i write this

i hope this helps if you need help turning off your proxy just google it

 

The previous posters solution has been posted before, basically this boils down to different people have different configurations preventing the SC2 app from downloading the patch, probably because it's peer-to-peer based on using some nonsense torrent-style software.

Some people can fix this by fiddling with proxies/firewalls, others of us probably have internet connections that block this download from working, and I know I don't have the ability to change these settings.

I NEED a direct download of the patch, HOW HARD CAN IT BE for one of the BIGGEST and RICHEST games companies in the world to host a GOD DAMN 40MB PATCH...?!?!

 

ABSOLUTELY AGREE WITH YOU MATE. Im having the same problem because im living in a residence with shared wifi conection, the conection is really good but is shared and I don't have the permission to change anything of it.

Need to download the patch from other site!!!

I'm in a university dorm and have absolutely no access to any internet other than the one here, which is heavily protected so I'm thinking that's why the download won't work. I can't even tether to my phone because I'm in another country and downloading the 40mb patch will probably cost me 5x the amount of the game.

GOD DAMN IT, there seem to be hundreds of people with this problem and yet there is no sign of it on Blizzard's boards, only on outside sites, and nobody seems to be capable of hosting a mirror!!!

Honestly didn't expect this from Blizzard on DAY ONE, let alone for it to be dragging on for 2 freaking days!! SC2 was seriously not cheap for me to buy here in Ireland, ffsssss

 

@ Ciaran Hey, im living in a residence in London, I've been here for 3 months but I'm coming back to Spain in nearly 1 month... I've just bought the SC2 for 35 pounds, that's not cheap for me either. I think that we have the same problem, just check your log on the SC2 folder-> Log

Hey Izan, just checked my log and yes I am having exactly the same problem, it is due to our internet! I had to go out and buy a CD copy of the game because I couldn't download it via. Blizzard's torrent downloader, so I am sure it is this, and I can't do anything about it, I simply need a direct download!

The patch we need is 1.0.0, I have been searching all over for a mirror but as far as I can tell there isn't one yet. It's about 40mb.

I'll let you know if I find anything! I'm going to be investigating all evening probably, I just bought an Apple Magic Mouse just to play this game and it was 70 euro so... I'm not sleeping before I patch this sucker!

 

@Ciaran hahaha same as me mate... Im wasting my time investigating where can I mind a mirror to download the ****ing patch that we need... this is so sick mate... waiting years and years to play this game and then when it comes out... we cant play... hahaha

I'll be looking for all the information that can be useful for us and then I'll tell you by here... as much as I know is that we have the same exactly problem and we can do anything about that coz we cant manage the internet of our residence/house...

One thing is for sure, Blizzard haven't put up a mirror for the patch. Apparently they like to prat around for a few days before bothering to do something this effortless.

Our only hope right now is someone has managed to grab the patch and upload it somewhere, but I've had no luck finding that. There are apparently hundreds of people with this problem who can't even post about it on battle.net so Blizzard are ignoring it.

 

By the way, I think one of the solutions for us would be to buy a broadband USB of Orange or any of the internet enterprises in the UK and Ireland and play with that... I dont know the prices but more or less around 30 pounds each one for a month or sth like that...

Yeah that would definitely work, but I'm not paying 30 quid to play this game Blizzard should have had mirrors out as soon as the game launched.. WHY isn't there a mirror yet?!

Guys, can you start calling Blizzard tech support and straight up asking them "when will there be a mirror for patch 1.0.0 available?" because I can't see any sign of activity from Blizzard here.

Ok well, giving up for today, so that's 2 days gone. Blizzard haven't acknowledged the situation at all, coming out with the same old "run as administrator" line, but I have seen a bunch of people on the battle.net forums posting on behalf of friends in our situation, albeit with no replies...

Googling this problem you can see lots of other forums and blogs where people are suffering the same issue but again, no sign at all of Blizzard responding to it, no sign of a direct download from battle.net and no sign of anyone else uploading the patch to apply manually.

Will be seriously pissed if this hasn't been sorted by tomorrow night..
