I tried the safe mode patch and the proxy server change and neither worked for me.

It must be an error with connecting to battlenet. Did everyone with this problem have trouble with connecting to battlenet when you installed?

I had no trouble activating my account but am having the same trouble as everybody else, with none of the listed solutions working.

I played Beta for a long time with zero issues like this, the only thing that I think is different is I recently downloaded AVG, which I'll try disabling and see if that does anything, but I'm not optimistic...

Example of my log files (same thing over and over):

    13:35:33.2324 Launcher version 2.1.2.1558
13:35:39.5475 Failed while patching. Command was 'download sc2-1.x.x.x-1631-x86-Win-enUS-tools.torrent'.
13:35:39.5476 Failed to run Downloader from 'sc2-1.x.x.x-1631-x86-Win-enUS-tools-component-dl'.
    13:35:39.5476 Unable to download update(s) from Battle.net.

So I can only assume it's failing to establish a connection to download the torrent file.. I'm trying to get it using a separate torrent program, theres a lot of peers but nothing seeding it from what I can tell, so I don't think getting it to 100% will be possible

I can't even connect to the blizzard down loader to install the game digitally. I played WoW for a long time, and played the beta for a while as well.

I haven't found a solution, but I think I've found a workaround. I copied my SC2 folder onto an external and put it on a trashy old laptop, and voila, its updating perfectly fine on that. It's definitely not my router then, it has to be something local to my desktop. What that is, I haven't a clue, but I'm in the process of copying my SC2 back to my desktop to see if it is finally working.

It works perfectly. You just need an internet explorer (with the settings above), NOT ANY OTHER BROWSER. I guess that was the problem. Thank you so much!!

  9. Ah finally fixed it, im using windows 7 64 bit,NVIDIA 260m, was having the same problem as you all, I uninstalled the beta, thinking that was conflicting with it, restarted, still wasn't working, turned off firewall, still wasn't working, so i went to "allow a program through windows firewall" and checked every box that had to do with blizzard and starcraft 2 home and public, then restarted and opened starcraft 2 and its working fine now, hopefully this will help others.

I finally got it to work by turning off proxy servers on my browser. I use Mozilla Firefox as my browser but apparently Blizzard uses Internet Explorer. This meant that when I disabled proxies, I did it on the wrong browser.

If anyone is using Mozilla or something besides Internet Explorer, then make sure to disable proxy servers on Internet Explorer.

Anyway that worked for me, I hope it helps others fix it as well.

  13. Make sure you uncheck Work offline on Internet explorer.
I use firefox, so after I tried this it worked like a charm, hope this helps!

I have the exact same problem, made sure both versions of IE (32 and 64bit) had all the proxy settings unchecked, and the IE is online. I still get the patching popup, HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, I finally figured my problem out, and got it working!

My problem was a FIREWALL... I made sure windows firewall was allowing SC2, and I made sure McAfee firewall was as well, still no luck. Finally, i decided to check my router, which also has a firewall, and it was already disabled. Scratching my head, I then decided to check my cable modem (I accessed the admin controls for both the modem and router, look up your specific router or modem to find out how to check yours)

I then disabled my cable modem firewall, which was still active, and tried SC2 again. And, IT PATCHED and now works GREAT!

So, it appears this problem is caused by firewalls, not b-net or graphics cards. So, check the other fixes mentioned by others above including your anti-virus and Windows firewalls, and dont forget to check your cable modem and router firewalls ALSO! Good luck all!
