But, I've already the patch and I can play offline. So which ports do I have to unblock to play BNet? and which are the steps? I don't see it in a clear way... help please.

    Problems updating patch 1.0.0

    Hi,

I am having problems updating patch 1.0.0 to play Starcraft 2. It loads to 70% then times-out and goes back to windows. Please advice if anyone has solution for this?

    Hi,

I am also having problems running the game, i manage to install and then it goes to updating the patch notes and loads to 50% the first time then goes to blizzard updater then goes back to updating patch notes and stops at 70% then times out and goes back to windows screen. Anybody having this problem and has found a solution? Would greatly appreciate the assistance for getting this sorted-out, it is a nightmare.

That's my issue too. I think its mostly because the setup here is a router behind a router... but I'm sure I did alot of things previous to this that warranted the port lock down.

Still trying to figure out why AIM/ICQ work. lol IRC is gone on this, although I can use a java HTTP client... so.. *shrugs*

Sounds like your behind a router. You can manually set your DNS server in your TCP/IP config to that of your router. Do you also have issues with pages randomly timing out or taking forever to load?

I've been having this problem for the past 4 days now, the Updater does not install the patch, And the patch simply goes on a endless loop.

I've attempted to turn off my main computer's fireworks in control panel. Checked the proxy settings (which are unchecked), and even turned off my Routers Firewall. They seem to have no effect.

I also did attempt to copy and paste that mirrior that was posted some few posts ago, but a few of the files were "curropted" and when I extracted them into the Starcraft 2 folder and started up the updater. They simply vanished.

Has there been any other solutions or methods?

Also I use a Desktop to carrying my computer to Mcdonalds is not an option. :(

Follow these instructions to change your DNS server in Windows Vista/7 (same for 32 and 64).

-In your system tray (the thing with all the little icons next to the clock), click the icon that looks like a little computer monitor (it looks like a series of bars if you are connected via wireless), and this will open your list of network connections.

Ignore this if you are directly plugged into your ISP's modem (meaning no router)!

    - Right click on the one you are using and select status. This will bring up a window showing your network status, click on the properties button. This will list the protocals you are using to connect to the internet.

-Choose TCP/IP IPv4 and select properties. Now, instead of figuring out what your DNS server is (I honestly don't have the patience to walk every user with a different config threw how to figure this out), we will instead use a generic google DNS (because its super easy to remember). Change your DNS settings from automatic to manual (leave your IP settings alone), and enter for your primary DNS server: 8.8.8.8, and secondary as 8.8.8.4.

If for some reason this fails and you have no internet afterwords, change it back to automatic!!!

The router may have the firewall turned off, but that won't matter if the ports won't forward. You can try placing your machine in the routers "DMZ" and that will forward all ports to your machine. Do you have your own ISP (meaning your not at a university or the like)?

If you do have your own ISP, try following Blizzard's Guide on what ports to forward. I don't really like it when people use non-Linksys routers, because they are super easy to setup using the port triggering settings.

Blizzard has more specific guides on how to setup stuff for firewalls, but it all seems to apply to Windows XP (WTF?!) and nothing about Windows Vista/7.

Blizzard also has specific instructions on how to forwards ports on specific common models of routers.

I just say place your machine in the DMZ and call it a day, but if you have multiple computers on the same router you want to use for StarCraft II, then port triggering is the way to go!

The file linked in that blog was created by a user who posted it in this thread. This has already been covered.
This will not fix issues with people who need to disable "automatically detect settings," (Connections tab, LAN SETTINGS) in fact, it will re-break things for those people. Also, that does not fix the issue for people who are firewalled which is what most of this thread was about. PLEASE READ THE THREAD.

Have tried port-forwarding 6112-6119 and 3724 and only the latter worked. Still get stuck on the game update @ 16%. Noticed the zipped update link is only for the US version of the game? I have the enGB version..

Those look like the WoW configuration, try using these ports for forwarding (US ONLY!) instead. Still haven't heard of anyone finding saved patch for the enGB version. Perhaps if you manage to get the entire patch, you can post it somewhere.

I think I know a good place to stuff patch files, so I plan on setting up an "unofficial" patch page sometime soon.

My bad, UK ports are different!! Click here for the support article.

Used Simple Port Forwarding to open all the other ports as per the resource you linked. Still gets stuck at 16%

I've tried this on 2 seperate computers now, the launcher window comes up, sits there, and gives me the option to play, when I hit play it tells me I need a new patch and the loop continues. The odd part though, is I'm sitting here playing WoW without any problems at all, just like I always have. Seems I'm stuck waiting for a download of the patch to play my game.. yawn

Need to use them both. I was unable to log into wowtunnels because SSH is blocked where I am at (not common, only an uber admin would think to do that).
Might need to set your DNS servers manually(common issue, especially if you have a PS3 or Xbox 360 that doesn't like to connect). Refer to the post I made earlier in this thread on how to set your DNS server manually.

Most routers fail at forwarding DNS request.
