Spore Creature Creator!

I'll repeat myself.... How on Earth could it be worse?

I don't know why, but today I got the whimsy to download this (hadn't read this thread previously). Everything seemed to be working fine, as I was about an hour along in creating a Zergling. However, during one of my many test drives, my laptop gave me the blue screen of death. I shut it down then turned it back on, only to find that when I try to run the creature creator, it will automatically exit the creature creator and put me back on my desktop, always after seeing the ESRB rating. I've tried running it multiple times, but the same thing keeps on happening. I doubt it's anything to do with system requirements, seeing as it was working just fine for an hour beforehand. Does anyone know what I should do?

 

Drivers perhaps?

 

This was my problem, change your graphics card 3D settings, for Depth Buffer Bit Depth to 24 Bit Depth Buffer.
That lets me run it normally.

Right click any blank space on your desktop and graphic properties should be an option. Or find it in your taskbar.

 

you mean color quality? it only lets me do 16 and 32 bit

 

No, go into your graphics options. Vista or XP?

 

Windows XP. I used the help and support stuff to fiddle with it, and now a) there's no more "graphics properties" option, and b) Spore won't even start, it just keeps showing me an alert window that says "Could not create the Grahpics Device. Direct X is unavailable. [1002]" and I don't get why it's telling me that, because I have the latest version of directx.

 

Ah, that happens on my XP, I have no idea how to fix that, I even installed the latest Direct X updates.

 

I am pissed, it will not run on my computer cause my video card.

Haha, doubt it. I've been on it fairly consistently ever since it came out. Regardless of whether you end up keeping your creation, it's definitely good fun. I've even been tempted to upgrade to the full version, but seeing as the game'll be released fairly soon, I decided against it.

 

I got bored of it after a while, but I"m still preordering the game anyways.

 

I got bored since part of the fun is to watch your creation take over the universe, which you can't in the beta. That, and the fact that you only have about 20% of all the pieces. Gives me a feeling of "no matter how cool your creation is it would probably look better if you had all pieces to play with", which means that I'll wait for the whole game to be released.

 

I don't see anything wrong with having fun with just designing characters. I mean sure, most of the fun for the game is the actual game component, but the fun of the creator is with designing the creatures. It's probably more that I'm into that kinda stuff, but yeah. If anyone has anything they'd like me to attempt, just gimme a shout.

Spore Creature creator rulez.

 

Mine isn't working.

It gets from the EA logo to the Maxis logo to a black screen, to a quits itself and goes to desktop.
