    Windows live messenger just got an update. I wish it hadn't. But I couldn't remove it from the updates like I did with the rest. Why do you they always make everything different so we have to relearn it every time? Do they have some kind of work plan that involves a fixed number of updates per year? Jerks.

    I scouted around the net and a lot of people are mad at WLM2011. It's not as simple to install older ones either.

    But Pidgin doesn't seem to have voice chat support, which I need. I'm open for any other software, but I'm a bit sceptical about multi-platform and multi-network programmes because then you'll have stupid symbols in names which appear as emoticons in their native chat clients. Or am I wrong?

    Hrm. Dunno about voice chat, never used it. If you can't find it, I assume it doesn't. I've never noticed a symbol next to my name (Every once in a while for video chat, I'll log into WLM with a separate account). Wasn't looking for it though, so I might've missed it.

    You might look at Digsby, another multi-platform one. Dunno about voicechat again, and it does originally hijack your personal message, but that's changeable.

    Pigin's better coded imo, and it has better XMPP support.

    Yes well I pulled the plug on wle2011 and installed messenger 2009. I was amazed how fast I found the solution by googling "messenger 2011 sucks".

    Thanks for the suggestions though. Luckily I don't have friends using an assortment of clients. I was just really mad about these utterly stupid changes like fixed display name and unnecessary animations so I thought it was time to switch to something for the long run.
