Well it would be able to sit down, thus aiming up.

...And I think by 'Y' you mean 'Z'. 'Z''s always the vertical in 3D, right?

@ Fenix. Well that missile certainly looks as though it'll cause an explosion...

Yes, it will. But not with explosives. It's a tungstan rod that literally just crashes down. Equivalent to I think 127 tons of TNT but in an extremely localized area. Like....Take out THAT building, but not it's neighbors.

I thought the tungsten rods they used were basically cylinders. And I'd've imagined them to have been much wider than that, and not as long.

    Great bunker breakers, nonetheless.

    Rods from God>Gauss rifles.

Itza, as far as I can tell, the shape doesn't matter in the slightest, simply the mass. As long as it's streamlined enough to reach terminal velocity, and has the same mass+density, that should be enough.

Of course, a thinner one with a point will will penetrate deeper, but in a more precise fashion, and vice versa with a fatter one.

Oh my god, thank you. Brutal Legend, yes. With Lemmy, Rob Halford, and Dio as voice actors.

That's true, but you'd think if they're going for the complete demolition of a bunker or something, you'd want to go for the whole area. Seriously, if you're wanting to do as much damage as possible, surely you'd need a greater diameter than that. Obviously thinner ones would have their uses, but for an actual bombardment, surely they'd just use fat cylinders.

Try to shoot it into a bucket so that the bottom gets pierced but sides stay intact

Maybe you want to crack open a Bunker, or take out an enemy HQ, but you don't want to splatter the innocent children playing in the street?

No-one said they'd be as big as a city. Besides, if it's that thin, unless you're wanting to feed a hose through and drown them out, it's not going to destroy a bunker or HQ.

Ah. I guess I'm over exaggerating the impact in my head. I assumed a long rod delivered from God to obliterate the target and everything in the surrounding area. Didn't think it would be as focused into a single spot. So yeah, unless you're wanting to drill a hole in the roof, and.. Do whatever, I don't see much use for the skinnier missiles.
