I haven't seen it performing AA, I've just heard about it.

 

so why did they get rid of barrage? i had always thought it was going to have it to offset the mothership from protoss. they get big unit we get big unit. it does anti air we do anti ground? i was just wondering

 

The Thor wasn't supposed to be a counterpart.

It was brought in as kind of the Terran Ultralisk. A base-crusher. Except the Crucio's Siege Mode is the same thing as it's Barrage.

That's why I think it was axed.

 

that is true except the thor is more versitile now because it has AA. the tank was a problem because if there was any air units you would get owned. You had to have a goliath army and a tank army so you dont get raped from the air. terran have always been week against air so the thor should maybe have a barrage attack for air?? that would be kind of cool but i think a little hard to control.

that was one of the problems they were trying to address in sc2 was the weak terran air. which is true but not at the same time. They dont have many ground units there were good against air. and even in the new on you just have vikings that are main air to air. i belive battlecruiser still do air to air but they are way better against ground targets. it would be nice to have another air to air big guy.

 

Vikings take on the heavy air, and Blizzard's trying to find a solution to Terran Air VS Light Air.

Marines and Medics are always good against Light Air unless it's stacked Mutalisks, but you can win with numbers.
Goliaths were fine too. And Wraiths and Valkyries were good on their own or better with a few Battlecruisers.

 

so why not have barrage air. if you see a giant fleet of battlecruisers or even carriars make your couple of thors barrage a certain area of the sky so they can get passed and then have tanks to gaurd against land units. ultimate base defense!!!!!

 

So you want the GTG Barrage be changed to GTA?

 

yeah only it would be an area attack. its like pick a circle of things that would get it. that way when i group of battlecruisers or carriers comes to own your base you can have a couple of thors do a barrage of certain areas to wipe most of them out. it would be a great defense measure but it should cost a crap tun of evergy. should i make a new thread about it to see other peoples opinions?

 

The example you gives makes an impression that the GTA Barrage is good against heavy units.

it could do both really anything flying in its radius of attack would get hit. The only way to really use it would be let them come in a little bit and just do it really quick. They would have to click all there air units and back them out of the are attack. they would be uber damaged. it would just be against strong air units it would be both light and heavy

 

I want the Thor to keep its original size, and has to be built by a scv.

 

I'm pretty sure it still is, unless I haven't been keeping up properly.

 

yeah they still havent fully come out and said that it is smaller but i also like that it is gigantic!

 

They have to keep it at least the size of a barracks, otherwise their is no need for the scv to build it. Also, the lore stated that they created a monster sized unit, not a medium sized unit

 

I wish the Thor would go back to its monster-ground-unit-base-destroying-status. I don't think any army would build a massive mech and have its main role to be anti-air. I know that the Thor did kinda overlap with the siege tank, but as its current role I think the Thor is stupid.
