Yeah, the 4870x2 is better price-wise, but he said really high end, so I assumed he wanted the best :p

I've only ever had XP, so I'm not sure. If it's the same, just right click your desktop and go to properties, then the settings tab, then advanced, then adapter. It should tell you there. That is, if they didn't change it in Vista.

i highly doubt you'll need SLI. seriously, blizz games have such low requirements, even when maxed out. on highest settings, i'll bet a single 4870 will do the job.

Well, I'm not only going to play Blizz games. I was just wondering if SCII will utilize both cards or not. I'm going to be playing much more demanding games as well.

I'm confident that Blizzard will build their new games with SLI and quad-core support. By the way, you should look at an Intel i7 920 if you're considering top-end cards like a 295, otherwise you're processor will be holding your card(s) back.

I already said on the first page that I'm planning on getting an i7 920 and 6GB of DDR3 1600MHz RAM. I'll be sure not to bottleneck it :p. I've been thinking of getting a GTX 285 instead of two 260's. It's more expensive for less performance, but has the potential to be much better later, if I get another 285. Whereas if I get two 260's, I'll have to stick to it, unless I'm able to sell them later on in order to get a better card. So it's either more performance now, but I'll be bound to that performance until I'm able to sell the 260's (which may be pretty unlikely by the time I'll need a better card instead) for cheaper than a 285, or a 285. I'd have less performance now, but I could simply get another 285 later for a big boost in fps.

Edit- To be honest, even if I got the 285, I'd probably end up selling it in order to get an ATI 5xxx series or a GeForce 3xx series, seeing as they are going to have DX11 and produce less heat due to being 40nm. It would probably be prudent to upgrade to the more technologically advanced cards, rather than getting another outdated one. I'm likely to go with the 260's, as they'll last me longer, and they are cheaper.
