The original height requirements is 6 lines or 50 px. I changed that to 100.

    I don't think 500x100 signatures is ridiculous.

Oh shut up already! If you don't want to have signatures shown, you can easily set not to display them.

    This is seriously messed up!

Yes I wish more people would realize that before complaining about sigs and avatars slowing down their connection.

    Heres a tip:
If you have sucky internet use Lynx and you won't even have to worry about slowdowns caused by pictures or flash objects and the like

    1. Watch your mouth.
    2. Don't even mention bandwidth to me... I'm behind a 10mbit line.
    3. This is not an art exhibition. This is a forum where we communicate our ideas and opinions using text, and so graphics should be minimised or at least formed to make reading comfortable. Huge pictures do not meet this requirement.
    4. Important links and reminders can be placed in sigs and I don't want to miss them. Hence, I will not disable them.
    5. Frankly, none of us can produce good stuff that needs to be displayed so big. No, not even you.

I'd like to see arguments for large signatures.

I agree with kuvasz. I am glad that we have a limit on signatures (and avatars for that matter). Now what those limits are can (and obviously will) be decided or reasessed later once there is a good idea what the majority wants.

Personally I hate the arguments like "just turn it off if you can't handle it" because while they are true in case that there is a problem with the majority we are not talking about the majority here, we are talking about extrema. Someone shouldn't be forced to not view any sigantures just so they don't have to deal with a few extrema. This is expecially true when the majority is having the problem with extrema. In that case the solution isn't to tell people to go deal with it, it is to impose limits to remove the extrema.

I don't even care enough to read your post, Kuvy.
I don't care. Make them 10px limit. I'll still have an awesome signature.

There will be a filesize limit that will keep signatures within reason even if/when the signature limits are increased.

I am not advocating large sigs just our ability to use them.
100x500 isn't all that large. I think smaller sigs would create sigs so small you might as well not even have them. Our avatars are 80x80 I believe. If we have to have a sig smaller than that we maight as well use it AS the avatar

My arguement wasn't to turn off sigs because you don't like them my arguement was for people whos reason for wanting smaller sigs for bandwidth reasons. If you have limited bandwidth it is YOUR job to do what you can to limit its usage by doing things such as not downloading at the same time or turning off images when possible. it is NOT my job to limit those things for you because you aren't willing to take measures to free up bandwidth for yourself

    That's the spirit ;)

Also note that while I would be fine with an 80 or 60 cap, I never said 100 is too much. And let's not forget that even smaller sigs can be distracting with flashes and stuff so I think sig moderation is the best way to go, if it's not too much of a hassle for mods.

Noone said we have to have the same few mods.

We can have some whose job it is just to moderate sigs

You're on a mod job collecting spree, aren't you? :D
I don't think moderating sigs would be too much work actually, which is why I thought we didn't need a separate mod for it.

There's a certain cut off limit in which the signature spans across, you're just going to live with these rules, unfortunately.

Based on a quick copy&paste experiment I just made I'd say the current height is 84...

I dont understand why did you nerf the signature size. Do you know how long did it take me to re-make my signature to make it nice and big? And am I supposed to go back to the drawing board now? :(

I had to get rid of my second Image on the sig. But i guess its not that big a deal but it didnt seem like my sig was extraneous.
