i was just thinking of a nice spell: blood golem, it is ast by the defiler and costs all his energy, the defiler teleports a larva towards him and the larva starts mutatiting into a mutated golem, a neutral aggresive creature, this way the zerg have a superunit, for the guys who want a zerg superunit, and still no superunit

    horra for necromancers.

THe golem idea is interesting, but, if its neutral, wouldn't it attack you as well? Meaning that the defiler is putting itself in danger of being attacked.

So you are pretty much sacrificing a defiler at the risk that it would attack you base as well.

If he's a nuetral unit, you can't pick him up. The only sure way that he would attack the enemies base is if he was summoned close to it, but that will be harder to do with new emphasis on scouting and raiding.

that was what I meant, defiler could be transported near the base and summon there, then leave with overlord. Ulness golem could attack air

Mmm the name for the zergling hero should be Fedrico, Anckleburt, or Roger (altho I would see it more as a probe's name)

What if the experiments in the secret mission in Stracraft one with the Zerg/Protoss hybrid went haywire and the result was a seriously mutated zerg that was really powerful in some aspects, and weak in others. A new Zerg unit in fact. And this unit was found by the Zerg and assimilated into the Brood.

Why I'm saying this is cause things take thousands of years to evolve. And I doubt even the Zerg could change all that much in 4 years. Even if they assimilated lots of species into the brood. it's take a while for them to work out which combinations of the new DNA when combined with their own would produce favourable results.

For me in a realistic sense I think the Zerg would be pretty much as it was in SC 1 just with a heap of upgrades and downgrades (when you specalise in one thing, your skill in other things gets worse).

Lastly I think the Zerg shouldn't have a uber unit as such. For me the races are like this:

Zerg - the swarm. Fights by outnumbering it's enemy with a heap of weak units.
Protoss - Shielded tanks. Each unit expensive but can take out lots of thigs.
Terran - Versatile. On the outside not a good race. But It's how you use them more then theier base unit stats that makes them shine.

Feel free to disagree with me there but that's what I feel. And having a Zerg ultimate unit would for me ruin the balance. Sure a few enhanced units like there was in SC 1 as commanders would be nice. Without the overmind, someone has to tell them what to kill. If not they'd just kill anything that moved, even each other.
