Should I pre-order SC2?

Should I pre-order SC2?

It's box or bust for me. I, for one, HAVE to have a nice box when I purchase a game. The only games I don't mind skimping on that are indie games like Torchlight (God-like!!!) which have no retail option.

Furthermore, I'm getting the Collector's Edition so digital distribution is out of the question. Not that it ever was since I hate digital distribution.

As for what is contained in these, they have not released this information. The only thing confirmed is a Behind The Scenes DVD which will have interviews with the developers and questions from the fan sites. However, in all other past Collector's Editions, Blizzard has added a Cinematic DVD (hopefully Blu-Ray in StarCraft 2's case) and a soundtrack CD as well as some other nice goodies. For Diablo 2 it was a board game. For WarCraft, I think they had a bigger more in-depth manual (Don't quote me on this). I never had the collector's edition of StarCraft so I don't know what was in that.

Also, the collector's editions are numbered which makes it a valuable thing to resell. StarCraft's original $49.99 retail sometimes sells for 500$ on eBay brand new so I can only imagine what a Collector's Edition would go for.

Meh I disagree I think you should preorder. I work for Gamecrazy ( And I don't think you should preorder just because I make commission of you!)
Its mostly a better safe then sorry thing, you just put down your 5 bucks early and that 5 bucks goes towards buying the game, you get some free gifts from us, and you get a free rental at hollywood video so why not preorder?

What will happen if you don't preorder Starcraft 2 ? Of course you risk not to find this future game in these shops. But those are prepared to have some weeks of rushes of fans who want to get this product. So I suppose that if the game is sold out the first day of its release the shops will surely have a new mass arrival the next day or, lately, the next week.

    Wait, pre-ordering doesn't utilise boxes?

Screw that I'm not getting digital copies, what's the point I'd rather torrent it.

I read that as, "Screw that, I'm not getting a digital copy. What's the point? I'd rather torrent it."

To which I must respond: good luck torrenting your non-digital copy.

I'd agree that I would rather torrent a game than pay for a digital copy when no box version is available. I do not condone piracy though so that's why I buy the boxed versions :D

I would if I could, but until then I'm placing the "torrent" option above pre-ording a digital copy.

Or you can torrent it a week before release like when warcraft3 found it's way onto napster.

And then buy the game when it comes out to get on bnet.
