Yes, they have strange drugs for soldiers on the game. I bet the SCVs could ignore a rampaging Ultralisk when they are on the field, thanks to these. How else would they remain so calm while cutting the mineral field in the middle of cross fire?
But then, in real life we're not an army, are we? In real life armies though, wouldn't you think it was possible as a commander to just tell some of your troops (or workers, in this case) to focus only on one task? I know if I was a commander, I'd get pretty tired pretty soon of telling someone to do the same thing over and over again for each time they had to do it... also, if you insist on comparing ourselves with an army all the same - in real life, there's not an "auto-gather" for us either, that allows us to automatically keep gathering things. So if you go by that logic, you would have to tell each SCV to go to the minerals and return to the base every single time again, too... so I don't think this is a very valid argument, to look at the realism in this aspect.
Auto-repair is a great change. Manually repairing was more of an annoyance than a challenge. Now it'll be easier to concentrate on the battles. Medics have auto-heal, no one's complaining about that.
but auto heal just costs ENERGY Auto-repair costs MINERALS i think it should be the initiative of the gamer to Repair his own SCVs or not Not AutoRepair!
SCVs are fine and don't need improving. Or else worker rushes would be a quick dishonorable death vs Terran.
Some people replies to this in other topics that SCVs should fly up to the ship because they have jet packs. In addition, they explain this connection to let SCVs jump over ravines or what not. I kind of find this jet pack theory a little... uh... bogus. If you allow SCVs to fly with their jet packs(or so to say) why not damage a Viking, fly it to a resourse rich island and order SCVs to repair the viking but instead allow it to fly over to the island without any problems with shuttles or transports. I really want a creative way to repair ships in SC2 in the future but I just don't agree with the jet packs. Either this or someone's gotta find me some more info.
I'm thinking super extendo-legs. Just slam into the ground and crank themselves up, like a car jack. Makes for a good observation point, too.
i like starcraft144000's idea scv's with jetpacks doesnt really make sence because they can just fly over places, but if ship lands and repair...thats a better explanation
I think the ship should have to land. It would then also count as a ground unit and become non attacking. Use SCV for post battle repairs the Nomad for emergency Oh Shit its gonna die repairs.
dropships in starcraft 1 beta used to land to load and unload.
ahh the best thing about that picture is proof that pretty much all the "sprites" have been retouched, some minor (like science vessel), but that queen's nest looks like it's going to fall over, so there will be hope that the terran's graphics will be retouched (improved). --I dont think workers should have special abilities or just that the SCV's have any special terrain-exploiting abilities will feel odd. Building + Harvesting is already a tough job (and to repair as well).
Drones also used to fly. They brought back Dropship landing maybe they will bring back flying drones too
drones used to fly because the sc1 alpha was set completely in space (minerals were on asteroids) and zergs were the first race to be implemented.
