[SC2F] BlizzCon Ticket QUESTIONS THREAD!

i think its because that same joke was already posted but without the TWO portion, but who knows. and your not a noob for asking that question i really do hope i win some tickets because my last resort is ebay and thats a scary place for these tickets.

 

so i just thought of an epic joke but i already entered mine so ima post it here but no1 can steal it cause ill cry.

To answer, the joke was too crude according to Joneagle_X. I still think I should get a T-Shirt, honorable mention, or maybe even a beta key (lol)? None the less, love your guys site, and plan to keep returning. SClegacy.com brought me here with the joke contest and I intend to continue posting / sticking around if you let me!

wow who woulda thought a member of the hyperion got first place...
i vote next competition is one where u dont get to hand your friend the prize just for being friends.

And to clarify i wouldn't of voted for myself, but the 2 that won were not the funniest, were just members/friends of the hyperion. O well i guess as much should be expected when its an opinion based competition.

Didnt expect any people who only signed up in june for these forums to win anyways. Just hope they didn't either.
Only reason i signed up for these forums was the contest along with many others. I even already have tickets to blizzcon, was just trying to score some for my little brother. O well, he didn't care too much about going anyways. But to all the better jokes who were not friends/members of the hyperion- tough luck but some of the jokes on there made me LoL. Maybe next time we can get non-slanted crowd.

IMO the tickets should have gone to some1 based on a SC tournament so that the tickets just couldnt be handed off to their friend. All he had to do was come up with anything even close to funny and he would win. Im not saying i wouldn't have done the same tho, u guys wanted the tickets to go to a long-time and forum-dedicated member, which i probably would have done the same. Grats to you guys tho, ill see you both at Blizzcon ill be at the SC tourney all weekend.

 

Actually, no, it wasn't just given to 'a friend of Hyperion'. Each were all legitimately voted on, with Hyperion members voting for three of their favourite jokes, and the people who posted each of the jokes were not otherwise mentioned.

On top of that, your logic fails with Spartan, so from the looks of things, you are only objecting to Seradin winning, which would mean that you yourself are showing more of a bias than the collective total of those who voted in the poll.

 

Congratulations to the winners, even though I think there entries suck. I dont have american humor at all I think.

 

Just as a quick follow up since this still bothers me. What exactly did this mean " I can't begin to tell you how sad it makes me that you ACTUALLY submitted this joke. DQ'd ". Did it literally just blow your mind when I put that in? Or did it make you sad that you couldnt (wouldnt) select it as the obvious best joke? Just curious. Your wording makes it sound like you have some sort of teenage angst against Protoss units or something...?

I don't know about this 'handing to a friend'. What I do know is that I didn't vote for that one because I found others funnier, and I'm in the blasted ship, so it probably wasn't a collaboration to 'award a friend'.

 

@ Runei. I'm not sure about that, you might have to PM Jon, direct.

@ kuvasz. I said the names weren't otherwise mentioned, meaning it wasn't set out as "Seradin's entree... Spartan's entree... Runei's entree... Etc...", though the funny thing is I had to look back at his joke to get what you were actually saying. LOL!

Im sorry this created so much drama, pheraps a random selection would have been more fair but not as hard to get into. There really is no easy way to hold a contest as in the end of the day.. somebody is going to be unhappy.

 

Actually I'm happy you got one of the BC tickets (a veteran poster of this site) and not a fielty vulture XD (me)

Perhaps next time we should try it with a poll, where the Hyperion pick 8 top picks and then the community votes?

 

For clarity: I am not mad, upset, hurt, sad, or anything because of the situation. I actually find it quite comical. IMO the best joke of these 2 threads was: "Seradin had the best joke". But like i said, no bad feelings towards the guy, i think he deserved the tickets for who he is on the site, a hyperion member, long time subscriber/reader/writer/ all that jazz. But like i said in the other post, for him to get the win all he needed was a joke that was not NOT funny. Grats to him and Spartan tho. Blizzcon is going to be a blasty blast!

Im not saying it was a conspiracy or a collaberation to give Seradin tickets, just saying that you all know who he is, what his joke was, and it influenced the decision. Im not saying you all planned "were giving seradin the tickets" im just saying that i know for a fact it played a huge part in his getting votes. If a non-hyperion member put in that joke it would not have won period.

my logic fails with spartan? didnt he join in 2007? And like i said, I am not jaded because I didn't win, cause I have tickets and turns out my bro already made plans for blizzcon weekend. But Seradin won because of who he was, plain and simple. Grats to him tho, im sure he is a really cool guy (if for no other reason then he is a SC fan). I just think that this was a way for the site to hand one of their more favorite members tickets, which is cool, but the competition wasn't much of a fair competition. And even if you didn't attach names to them when you guys did the voting, every1 had access to the forum, and could read who submitted what. So its not like it was completely or even somewhat anonymous. But then again most people would say putting a hyperion member in something where the hyperion gets to vote is not a fair competition at all. It would have been a much more fair competition even if you had the members besides hyperion members get to "Vote for 2" so the people who didnt care about the joke and would vote for themself would still get to vote for one joke they thought was funniest. But hind sight is 20-20 and all that jazz. Just saying, next time the contest shouldn't at least appear so rigged, maybe next time make hyperion members not enter or at least make a new account so that you wouldn't know it was their joke. (or at least the rest of us wouldn't know it was a hyperion member entering his own joke into a contest where he picks the winner).

But like i said Grats to him, i know hell enjoy his time at blizzcon. Grats on winning, your joke was funny, but not close to the funniest.

And also like i said previously- im not shocked, hurt, or annoyed because tbh i would have done the same thing, handed it to a long-loyal-friend/member over someone who joined and left for the competition only. Just next time say "Seradin is being awarded tickets from the site for being a long-time member and friend and blah blah blah" or hold a competition that is more fair.

and again I dont have any problem with who won, just saying it was un-biased is the biggest joke on here in which case the hyperion members all win and should give the tickets to seradin. =).

Grats to seradin tho and Spartan, you guys I am sure deserve them, if more nothing else being blizzard addicts like the rest of the people attending.

 

Dude, funny is a matter of opinion, just because you thought your joke was the funniest thing in the thread doesn't mean that's the general consensus. Personally i didn't find many jokes deserving of mention, and i can definitely see why Seradins and Spartans won.

And stop making up things to compare, Spartan is neither a member of Hyperion or a very active member in the forums. If there was some conspiracy involving leprechauns and vote-rigging Hyperion i doubt joining in 2007 would be enough to get through.
