Part of me says that 3 pack is a money shot for blizzard.
On the other hand, we'll get a lot more content in the next 2 years after when the expension will get out.
I'm ready to pay for that, I just fell into their trap.

    What can I say I'm a Blizzard Wh0re

"Just imagine how much WoW is worth and now they have divided Starcraft 2 in three packs."

I know they make more money because of that, but aren't we just paying for more gaming too? 30 missions in each packs, 2 great expansions with new units and new ideas + balancing. You might call that a money-machine, but isn't every good game a money-machine then?
THe difference with EA is that they make osme good games but dont update them, Blizzard does.

I think that people have forgotten that after missions are done you'll play against comp or other players and you won't have any use of 3 CDs. Heck you can with Editor make millions of campaigns so number of missions isn't that much great.

I don't know why blizz put so much effort and time into single player, seeing as though most people just play online.

    Or so I guess..

Its to appeal to the casual players, which many know that there are more of those then hardcore players.

besides who wouldnt want a great single player experience?

It still isn't worth that much. Also I have to wait expansions to play with zerg and protoss. It would be better to go on some modding site and download campaigns and maps.

    Your opinion not mine.

Playing vs real people has always been more enjoyable and entertaining for me..

Of course since AI uses same tactics. Campaign doesn't make a game which some people fail to understand. sure you'll have fun but after you finish campaign what then? Other people of course. Unless you plan to have pirated version and then campaign is all you got.

And what about the entire story behind it all? The time they took to tell you a story? SInce you said that you haven't played a single player game for a long while you missed so many great stories. Stuff like "God of War" "Fallout3" "Half-life series" "Prototype". Only the big titles I played recently and loved the story telling.
I do enjoy the multiplayer game out there, CS, TF2, L4D, UO. But the way your dismissing all single player game, is, to your great loss.

As of Starcraft and BW, you are right, nothing much of a challenge from the AI. What ever they are doing in Starcraft2, (ie, difficulty modes, achivements, better AI) Will only add that much replayability.

Like I mentionned to Ste, the story telling is worth a lot in a game. It will be far greater than it was in Starcraft and BW. The sheer amount of lore they are putting into the Starmap and the environement like TV brodcast is going to be so refreshing.

I might be too nostalic, but I started (again) the Starcraft and BW campaign 2 days ago. Single player (of course), and it's the story that keeps me playing.
It's like reading a book for a second time, or playing Final Fantasy Tactics an 100 th time. The book is the same and the game is the same, but the story is worth living again.

I'm not telling you guys are wrong, I'm telling you, your missing something that is worth exploring.

Game storylines can be as good as books. And I'm pretty sure that the StarCraft 2 campaigns are comparable to a book.

TBH, a book is so much better at telling a story than a video game. Hands down, you cannot argue. You can only argue that you find stortytelling through a video game more entertaining.

    I wasn't surprised when it didn't make '07.

    I wasn't surprised when it didn't make '08.

However, I am surprised it didn't make '09.

11 years and 3 Blizzcons later and this thing better have enough polish to blind us as soon as we open up the box.

I should probably be a little more forgiving of Valve, since they've finished Team Fortress 2, Episode 2, Portal, and Left 4 Dead in a few years time while still putting out updates for TF2 (the survival pack for L4D doesn't count) with a skeleton crew of about 200 while Blizzard has 2700+ developers and the financial and commercial might of Activision behind them. Then again, Valve did completely forget about HL2:E3, so bleh.

The StarCraft 2 team is about 40 people. That statistic you're talking about includes the legions of WoW customer support reps.

They never said any of that, or anything like that. It was "Aiming for late 2009" and then an official (first) announcement of "2010."
