BlueStar, you have a completely different chipset, and one with a proper SATA driver installed. Its quiet a difference.

This has to be a motherboard issue and I'm not resting until I've got an SATA driver to install.

I am somehow doubting it, although some people have fixed issues by updating to DX 11. I am still trying to track down the drivers.. and the post I was writing last night.. oh wait I can't do that.. my mom turned off the machine... GRRR.

Anyway, the jist of it is.. the reason why you don't have SATA drivers, is here. I am sad to inform you, but Asus has lied about you having an SB850 southbridge, you instead have an SB7xx series southbridge.

The hardware ID on the IDE devices confirms this. It's time to get serious about this, so I will recommend a tool I don't like to use if I can avoid it: DriverMax.

This is a tool that will inventory your hardware and identify the newest drivers in its database for every single driver in the system. Its not freeware, but the trail should be long enough for you to get the drivers you need. If this can't find your missing drivers, nothing can.

Give it a go and see what driver goodies it finds for you.

I found a driver package with the correct drivers. Had to get on my sisters high speed internet to download threw the various 26MB packages to find one that works.

This one for an ECS SB700 motherboard will work. Choose the 64-bit package on the top. These WILL install!

I have no idea why AMD doesn't name their chipsets by the chips themselves... None of their driver packages on their site contain these drivers.

Skip DriverMax and install that instead if you can.
