I bet that it hadn't cloak. So only bomber NOT Stealth Bomber. Big Deal :) Anyway Valkyrie was in Stardat.mpq under name 'Bomber' :)

All I see is a valkyrie with a ground attack, this has so little to do with banshees.

Looks like it had area damage as well. AH! It's the reaver all over again!

I play zerg and I hated those reavers for thier massive area damage, this unit would have been the end of me.

Hey do you remember back in the day when Reavers could insta-fire when they were dropped from a shuttle? Reaver used to be a dominant ground weapon...too bad they nerfed the micro and powered up the goon, I liked it better before.

But yea that would have been somewhat imbalanced to have the Valk as a bomber, but at the same time Zerg Air wouldn't have been nerfed by the Valk air-air. Anyways, its interesting to look at early SC development, their are obviously some designs and concepts taken straight from the beta versions of the original!

no, I didn't start playing sc until about six months ago. I never knew they had instant-fire. When they did, I would have ben playing protoss a lot more than I do currently.

It is interesting to see how the early alpha sc looked like, and I'm glad thet there were many upgrades to the graphics before the beta was released.

Eon, Starcraft changed ALOT over the years. Goliaths, vultures and dragoons used to be USELESS units. In fact the Dragoon used to be the worst unit in the game. Photon cannons were awful as well, being particularly useless against infantry. Reavers used to be godlike with a faster build time and scarabs that instantly fired as soon as they were dropped from the dropship...this was generally an advanced strategy, as you could essentially annhiliate ground forces via speed upgraded shuttles with pop and shoot reavers. Pop shoot, as the survivors charge the reaver retreats in the shuttle flying backwards, repeat etc. This was also back in the day when the Reaver rush was something to be feared!

Check out the "Nydus Sarlac pit". It looks like the Sarlac pit from Starwars, AKA a submerged Nydus Worm!!

Re: Twilight Archons were originally in Brood War. Picture!

I believe a dev once siad that those were just hallucinated DAs.

    Nothing special.

What should be more interesting is the fact that the hero level archon was nammed Tassadar/Zeratul

I noticed that, and it looked really cool. Too bad it was changed, I like the design art for the pit better than the current Nydus Worm.

I thought the spire with large spikes sticking out on the sides looked awesome, too bad it was redesigned to how it looks now.

Well the Zerg structures look like they are from Alien Vs. Predator (AVP). So is there a story on the big leap in graphics, units, and changes?

    http://home.planet.nl/~aggel005/alphabeta/earlyalpha/alpha2.jpg
If you notice the Graphics for the Interceptors looks like they are very... They just look like they are from Starcraft (Really old). The Guardian/Mutalisk's mouth looks like an Alien from AVP

The Graphics, look like 2-bit, or just from a cheap gameboy. Those are Overlords???

Well there is a lot more, and the units look like they are.. from Contra the game ^^

I'm not sure if anyone has replied to this yet, but remember all hallucinations are totally foggy blue. The possibilities of it being a hallucinations could be true since it IS the Beta (It's the beta right?).
