I like them all, except for the new Barracks, it's like they took away all of the details before desaturating it. Also, the Minerals could be a bit less glass-like in my opinion. They new form is better, but just a bit too much for my taste.

I have to agree with you on the barracks, But it is still better than it was.. They have done nice work to all of the textures. The game looks far better this way.
I like the new minerals, and.. they are minerals, so what is the problem with the glassy look? :)

Because those minerals are supposed to be composed of some kind of metal. Metal isn't glassy at all. Or is everything in the Starcraft universe made from glass or something? :p

By the way, before someone says: "you can't live from psi as food, Vespene Gas can't actually be used to think of armor upgrades, blah blah blah..." You know what I mean, right? ;)

The shut up part wasn't really needed, you should edit it out before someone powers you down.
On the colours, I like how they colour the Battlecruiser and Tank, it looks gritty and shiny at the same time, that really appeals to me.

I also like that, but I don't like the fact that the light things on the Tank now look like slime instead of lights, like they are supposed to. Maybe they should revert that part again.

The new effects are better. The units and structures are less "cartoonish". It is more realistic

However I think some elements of metal of the Terran structures must shine as they are in the original SC. See the bunker how the metal is shining.

I voted for the new, but only because the pics shown were all Terran. I think the lower saturation fits the Terran very nicely. Need I say more of the same? Grittiness, grittiness, Terran, grittiness, blah, blah, blah. Yeah, good.

However, I also agree with Foarsaken(<-- Is it really supposed to be that? Not forsaken? Anyway...) that the Bunker is an exception. The original on the Bunker looks so much better. But in general, I think Terran could use the gritty look.

Protoss should, by all means, keep the look they had from their very first revelation. They should keep this look on the Terran for a few builds until fans get to see it in action in a vid, so we can see how it really looks like when gritty Terran mixes in with the shiny Protoss.

i like the newer one graphics wise, but the designs themselves, i like the old stuff. as in, if they just went back and upgraded the graphics of the old game, keeping the designs as exact as possible, but in 3d, using whatever engine they used for this, it would be a brilliant remake.

seeing as its a new game though, im going with new graphics, mostly just because i have faith in blizzard, in that in the context, the new graphics as a whole will be better as a whole.

  11. I don't understand why so many people prefer dull drab textures and colors, It makes the game look like other RTS games. The stylized and cartoonish look of Starcraft makes it unique and was present in the original game, watch any of the cutscenes and it will be blatantly obvious. Cartoony graphics look better and age better too, If they try to make the game look like real life they will fail, if the game looks like the stylized world imagined and envisioned by the designers they won't fail because it can be accurate to imagination, but not real life. Take Zelda for example, Ocarina of Time was supposed to look realistic, and looked good at the time, but the graphics are terrible and dated now, the low polygon models don't create a realistic look. The wind waker on the other hand is cell shaded and although it doesn't look like our world, its graphics really couldn't be improved upon, they look like a cartoon, they don't emulate the real world but create somthing all their own, that can't be improved upon or argued that they do not look good or accurate.

As to the desire for grittier looking textures, I have never understood the reasoning. If a vehicle or building was just built why would it already be dirty, if it is brand new it should be shiny.

the structures and vehicules are shiny once built but they become dirty with time. So as we use them a long time they are dirty. It would be great to have shiny units and structures first and become dirty after a couple of time, but it would be tooooooo demanded for Blizzard.

It is a world of war, and in all wars the solrdiers and the mecanics are dirty and damaged. Normally the appearance of all the marines for instance should be the same than Findlay's one.

A combination of both would be better.

I love the way it's looking now, as StarCraft had a more "gritty" feel to the looks, and the way they are doing it now adds to it just that much more.

I agree, the new looks appeals to me much more. Starcraft 1 had a dark feeling due to its color and they seem to be remembering that. So when you guys say "the cartoon feeling makes is much more pleasing for players to watch," that is is only from your stand point. To me, I'd have more fun watching/playing a gritter/darker game.

Starcraft 1 and 2 are a war game. With a war background. This is not a fairy novel like in WC3. Even if that game is a war game too. But SC is more violent I would say. And also more "realistic". That could happen in the future. That's reality I want to say.

PS : Of course SC is a fiction, don't tell me that am idiot to have written that. :)

I like a combination of both. I don't like how some of the units have less color, it almost looks as if it were worn out when the unit was just built. That wouldn't make sense now would it? I like the new minerals though, the old ones just looked... Well, like they were made up plastic.

About the minerals I don't like when they are just settled on the space platform. I mean Normally the platform were built on crsital space "islands". Now it seems that the cristals were put on the platform
