    Vulture: "wuht d'you want??"

yeah, those mines are also a threat to yourself if placed at wrong areas... though the mines are still in the game, but in tier 2.5 with the nomad, unlike the vulture b4 wherein massiive amounts in no time were quite astounding, w/c makes me wonder why they cut the cobra? i dont see the jackal as its new model since its on a different role, now no terran vehicle will be scavenging no more.. anyway the vulture will definitely be missed..

How is the Nomad tier 2.5? It's created from the Starport and requires a Tech Lab. That's tier 3.

Reaver - I am glad it won't make a comeback, though, because in just about every Toss game, you'll see a Revear...and most cvases it desides the game. I don't want that.

Had to vote Science Vessel, it was really hard to choose. Close seconds would be the Vulture, Reaver, Devourer, and Medic. Devourer and Medic really need to be in the game.

About the listed choices, since it's based more around differences/similarities on in-game functionality, the Queen deserves to be on there more so than the Corsair IMO. The Corsair's AtA splash is achieved through the Phoenix's Overload ability, it's not completely the same, but it's close, especially considering practical application/functionality. The SC1 Queen and the SC2 Queen on the other hand, are completely different units.

The only thing tying the two Queens together is just the Queen namesake, which is rather meaningless. Consider the fact that they renamed the Defiler and Guardian to Infester and Swarm Guardian despite them largely being the same unit as they were before, yet they named the new Queen "Queen." Unit names obviously don't mean jack. I can come up with a long list of big differences between the SC1 and SC2 Queens, but the only similarities are things like the Queen name, being Zerg, etc.

  6. I miss my firebat :( :( :( One of my favorite units from StarCraft.

Seems like no one gave love for the devourer.. but why wouldnt people use them so much anyway?? is it because that theres just a small chance of having air battles in SC, maybe coz judging from what we all have been seeing/doing with BW from the last 10 years (especially koreans) - theres almost no air action going on against players of high caliber... is it just me or do SC players want to stay on the ground forever... maybe they should adjust the games outcome against situations like those,. Its not that I dont prefer ground battles but ive just growned fatigue of watching korean progamers ending the game in an instant with their superb ideas of infiltration and offense....

what i just want is for the air units this time to be more deserving to be picked often than just being in a way that SC1 has always been making most of the confrontations ground base... ive also noticed that base on what units have already been showned its not that far to assume that it will definitely be a game with more "same old style tactics" and in the end we face demise of seeing those players with superb micro ability dominating the game w/o even giving chance to see the beauty of late tier units... but of course they are playing for competition that they do what they have to, its just that it makes things easier for it to end earlier for the benefit of everyone..

Anyway back on the devourer I really did enjoy using that unit to the point massing them in dozens.... back in 1998 we have this small tournament for the Computer Club in our school for celebration of recreational activities day.. and the rules were All random races 4 teams - 8 players (total of 16teams participated) random map with a time limit of 60 minutes... it ended up with my partner and i (prtoss + zerg) winning.. but the victory went on ups and downs as the battle was way too risky having the task of making offense and defense... but tnx to my beloved devourers no one dared build anymore air unit/army...

A unit like the corruptor is just probably a crappy predecessor of the devourer as it just cant even kill a target on its own... being the unit that replaces the role of the devourer (AtA fighter) it quite fits in but maybe it can better be perfected into having an evolution of its own comparable to a devourer which is a more dedicated Air fighter than a tactical annoyance... I meant no offense for the "Matrix Robo Zerg Wannabe" in anyway, and in fact i love its look, but the look itself just dictated how unlikely and weird that unit can be... (lorewise - does it lay small eggs of mindcontrolling mini zerg units that takes over the crew of its defeated enemy or does it just spray oozes of acid creep that is a living creature capable of disabling even the largest ships such as the battlecruiser.. hmm) sound kinda weird right???

    -I LOVE DEVOURER -

The reason you never saw much air units is because the anti-air was just too good lol
Air units costed a lot and where pretty fragile, then you gotta put them up against things like Dragoons, Goliaths and Hydralisks which own air units easily.
Same goes for things like Battlecruisers and Carriers, by the time you have 2-3 the opponent has a much sizeable army in which that will include those strong anti-air units.
Basically its a waste of money to produce something costly like a Carrier when you can save money and time not teching that high and stick with the stronger ground units.

But now I don't think theres that problem, as the Battlecruiser looks very powerful and sexy, then you have cloaked GtA which can act like Mutalisks, so those will definitly be used. For the Protoss tho, I don't think we'd see much f the Warp Ray in the game as it would be a similar story for the Guardian, it was only worth it when you suprised them with a large number, and even so, if the opponent had anti-air you'd be in trouble. But then thats balanced with them having the ownage Phoenix so maybe the Warp Ray will be used.

It's a tough choice, but I'd have to go with the Valkerie. I'm gonna miss her sassy remarks whenever you clicked on her enough times.
