terran doesnt get melee units. every SC1 terran unit (except SCV) was ranged, even the firebat, and every SC2 terran unit (except SCV) so far is ranged. They can deal with dark swarm with Banshees, Battlecruisers (Plasma Turrets), Thors, Reapers bombs, and Seige Tanks. Dark Swarm wont be a problem.

I dunno... I just think the current Reaper is a waste of a previously good unit. I just love the Firebat so much I hate to see him left behind in combat!

Why make a new one when you can make the old one do the same thing, if not do it better????

Plus the Reaper now just reminds me of the hybrid of the Rocketeer and some guy from Blue Man Group....

slugonice, please try not to post in all bold. It makes me want to cry inside.

Also, read up on this thread and you'll see my suggestion of the Reaper being an upgrade for the firebat.

Posting in bold is against the rules? I don't think I have anything more to say about reapers, though, basicly because I already said everything I need to.

Reapers are ranged though, the only other melee units besides firebats are SCVs...

Now that we know most of the capabilites of this unit, What are your strategies for effective implementation.

Personally, as it seems that about 3 or 4 time bombs are enough to destroy buildings, I can see many small groups of reapers, hot-keyed, just jumping into bases from all sides and launching bombs at any and every important looking building. Then, leaving or holding off without firing a shot, so as to not alert your enemy with a "base under attack" warning till it's too late.

Edit: Stop posting here if you find the need to be sarcastic. It only brings up the thread higher on the list.

Ya, I can see Reapers being very very annoying when playing against Terran and very very fun when playing with Terran. If you can muster up 2 dozen of them and break them into 6 groups of 4, assuming 4 bombs can kill a building, you could do real damage and even if they are aware they may have dificulty responding to an attack coming from 6 different directions. Or as darkone suggests do it while the enemy is engaged in combat and hopefully to wrapped up in microing to notice those strange colored dots moving amongst the green of his base on his minimap.

bring in the thor up front, a few siege tanks behind him, and whatever you need for anti-air. a few seconds later, send in a dozen groups of reapers, about 5 each. bomb whatever you can.

    can reapers attack air?

well, its not really gonna do any difference if they can shoot at air. Its like using a Scout to destroy a command center :p
