here are the SC2 MINIMUM requirements for the BETA. you will probably want a bit more than this to run it above minimum.

Guys I just wanted to tell yall. I just got a brand new computer JUST for sc2 and it runs EVERYTHING on ultra. I have a ATI Radeon 5770 video card, 4 GB of ram, and a i-7-860 processor. I spent like 3 weeks trying to look for the best video card for sc2, and the 5770 kicks ***. 70 fps consistently with NO LAG at all! Not even in massive 4v4 battles! Its AWESOME. Could barely run sc2 on low settings with my old computer and I hated it. Now I love it!

 

I think low to mid quality, probably low, and it will be laggy, also mass units in 2v2 and up will prob lag crazyy,

reading this over, everything match's with my computer except for the video card. i have a Radeon HD 4350. from what i was reading, if i decide to buy this game and try it on my pc, i should run it on low to medium. is that correct?

 

if you have a pc, it makes sense to spend 60-100 bucks to get a good enough video card, then you will be able to play on med-high. Low is unplayable to me and its reasonable and easy to upgrade.

 

i really didnt consider that. ill take your advise and upgrade. thanks for the info.

Hi, I just bought SC2 yesterday and still shipping... and very curious if my rig can play on 4v4, 'ultra' on 1920x1080:

CPU: AMD Athlon X2 5200+ @ 2.66GHz
RAM: 4GB G.Skill
GPU: EVGA GTX 460 768mb
HDD: Samsung F4 2TB

mainly worried on the processor part... no budget to replace that yet T.T

My system is brand new as of december. All of my HW is more than double the required... except the processor. Full specs:
Processor: AMD V120 @ 2.2 Ghz
Memory: 3 GB DDR3
Graphics: 1405 MB, 4.1 shader, 500 Mhz graphics accelerator (AMD M880G with ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4250. No worries here.)
Hard Disk: 52.6 GB free of 135 GB (I have A LOT of high power games)

Could I run SC2, even on low would be fine, and about how many (x vs. x) would I be able to do?

EDIT: Forget it, I'll just bring it back to the store and get another game I know I can run. Probably not one that costs $65, though.

I just have an AMD Sempron(tm) SI-42 processor, so I'm only running at about 2.1Ghz.

Will I at least be able to make the game work on the lowest quality settings?

I already ordered the game, so fingers crossed....

edit: by the way, I've been looking for an upgrade for my toshiba L455D-S5976. I'm having a heck of a time finding a decent processor that will fit in a S1G1 socket. Can anyone recommend a processor that will run SC2 properly and also fit in a S1G1 socket?

I am just wondering if this laptop shown in the link below would run SCII smoothly. I am a casual gamer would does not really understand the computer conditions needed to play high graphics games. While I know desktops are generally cheaper and better to play games I prefer a laptop to carry around for research and typing. Any suggestions would be nice.

That is a rather old Alienware. But I do believe it would run SC2. Someone else probably has better insight than I do. But I imagine your going to be looking close to minimum settings on the graphics. Personally I'd go with something else other than Alienware if your just a casual gamer. Plus Alienware is overpriced IMO. There have been 2 new steps in processor technology since the core 2 duo (intel i series, and intel sandy bridge i series) Just about any i series processor you buy will be faster than the core 2 duo processor that is in that computer. The graphics card, is fairly old, but it still isn't too bad of a card. its PROBABLY better than the Intel HD graphics cards that so many of the new laptops have. But its definitely not capable of running SC2 on very high settings at all. For $900 you should be able to find a laptop with an i7 processor (possibly even the sandy bridge i7). And the i7 processors do NOT have the intel HD graphics cards, they will have some other form of dedicated memory, be it Nvidia or AMD (formerly ATI). And I would guess any card that you get will most likely be a better card than the 335M. If I were to suggest a manufacturer to go with I'd probably go with an Asus or higher end Dell. Even though Dell makes Alienware, I'd stay away from Alienware just because they really aren't worth the money unless you are looking for the ultimate gaming experience. And quite frankly your dropping quite a few bucks for the look of the Alienware computer as well as for the name.
