Re: Mineral Hunt 3!

Wow! That was the biggest waste of my time... I was on the step about the song... Now it is over...

What I want to know is, WHY THE HECK would anyone go to a poetry contest page to finish the hunt?!?!?!? It doesn't say where to put it and where is the rationel with the poetry. How would you draw the conclusion to look at poetry if the hint is look at the song?

I am not trying to anoy people but it bugs me I lost because of that... How did people draw their conclusion of poetry?

 

This one was simply unfair for new members. I was on forum around the time this competition was being held, so "Hell it's about time" was first thing to cross my mind when I read "release song" (obvious reference to Tychus' words IF you knew the song before)
I'm not exactly against regular members having higher chance, since good part of hunt is about the forum, but this one was a bit too far imo

 

The answer unforuneatly isnt very kind to new members. The 3 competitions were a really big thing and members were provided alot of time to create their work and over a week to read over it the entries. The mineral hunt isnt just designed to test Starcraft knowledge but also site knowledge. Those were big competitions and the rap entry (the were the song was) won first place in its category so it isnt very much of a stretch to assume members would think of it when they heard of the song. (Personally it was the first place I went when I saw the clue I just got screwed up when I didnt look at the link or try clicking on it)  

It was a hard clue because it required people to remember that song and to have listened to it in the first place. But considering it was the second to last clue it was a pretty good one. Im sorry if this isnt the answer you were looking for. (maybe someone else can provide a better one)

EDIT: @Meee I dissagree, I thought it was a good clue because it was really hard and one of the last clues so it helped provide a nice hard ending to the hunt.

Your too late I think... Yes you are Lol ouch man! Well I was an old member but I couldn't log on since I didn't have internet connection, but I did manage to finish the hunt so I'm happy.

I have something to ask, does it take a lot of work for SC2 to make these hunts? I think it is, but still good admin for making

Yea what Fox said... That really sucks man but if I won I would've send some to ya sigh but I didn't. Also fox good job on the hunt at least your in second

 

LordKerwyn, I'm not complaining about difficulty as such, it's a good thing for last clues to be toughter, I'm just saying that it was near impossible for new members to figure it out on their own

 

I respect what all of you have said but I still don't see the connection between looking for a StarCraft 2 song and winning by clicking on a link in a poetry section. Please explain that part... Thanks!

The link was originally a link to a rap. The "poem" it is in are the lyrics to the rap.

The entire idea behind this mineral hunt is not, I repeat not to give out minerals for free.

It's a test of your knowledge of the site and Starcraft in general. As you can see it was about 50% knowledge of SC and 50% knowledge of the goings-on of the site.

Are you at a disadvantage for being a new member? Yes. Are you at a disadvantage if you're less active? Absolutely. That is exactly the point. The Mineral Hunt is meant to reward members for their activity and length of tenure. But a newer member can win if he uses his brain.

Not only reward, but to get people to participate for minerals. If there wasn't a prise not a lot of people would participate in this event, you know what I mean?

 

Bah. I did the hunt 19 hours late. I managed to get far without having any problems but I stopped coz it's no use playing a losing game. I never get the chance to be on time on any mineral hunts due to the fact that it always starts at dawn here.

How 'bout doing a mineral hunt around asian time?
