lxleightlxl = courageous tragic hero who tried rebelling against the corrupt government run by drug dealers :D

Except he wasn't a hero, the "government" isn't corrupt, and there are no drugs.

Back on topic: I bet most professional players will start playing starcraft 2 also.

i agree, if nothing else, they are probably getting bored of the original, competivly playing it for 10 years.

Well I think they will still play starcraft but then edge over to starcraft 2 and within a few years possibly just play starcraft 2.

My own guess is that it won't even take a few years. Korea will make the transition within the first or second year of release, tops.

Oh yeah definitely. But the real question is whether or not the playing of starcraft 1 will sharply decline or if it will be more shallow.

It would be "sharply decline" if we are still talking about Korea.

Most Korean teens and young adults don't buy most of the games they play, they just play them at internet cafes. Even MMORPGs, they play them at internet cafes. They spend money on games they play, just not in the purchase of any retail boxes.

Internet cafes will all have SC2 installed within the first two weeks of release, if even that long, due to business competition. There is a huge abundance of internet cafes there in Korea. When SC2 is readily available to give a shot at, and you're the biggest pansy if you aren't down with what everyone else in your school(the rest of the country actually) plays, rest assured that you would find yourself playing SC2.

The only way it could happen any other way in Korea would be if SC2 had major issues at launch or if it just plain sucked. But I don't see that happening.

i think that sc2 will be taken up fairly fast be the competitive industry because of all the neat stuff that blizzard will be implementing for them, making it much more entertaining to watch on tv than sc1. Also, every1 loves nice graphics :p

I think there will be a sharp decline in SC1 play no matter how good or bad SC2 is received. If SC2 is great everyone who loved SC1 will buy it pretty quick. If its bad I don’t see anyone going back to the original. Bad sequels have a way of deflating the popularity of an entire franchise. Especially after all these years.
I think everyone in Korea will have the game the week its out. My Korean friends always surprise me with their “resourceful file sharing†techniques. Right, Remy? ;D
