Protoss only require psionic energies emitted from Khaydarin Crystals Pylons in order to survive. That's why a player needs to contruct additional pylons if he/she wants to produce more units. They don't need glucose, or nitrogen based nutrients, or oxygen, or any other carbon based molecules for food.

They only need psionic energy. Aiur and Shakuras is surrounded by a think cloud of psionic energy. Just like Earth's atmosphere that provides CO2 for photosynthesis and O2 for respiration, Aiur and Shakuras's psionic atmosphere is enough to powerful all Protoss units. And those atmospherical psionic energies are being captured and harvested via Pylons made from Khaydarin Crystals.

In summary, Protoss needs Khaydarin Crystals (minerals) and psionic energy to live.

    That's a decent assumption mc2.

Sorry fellas, I was misinformed. I just assumed I was right about it being Vitamin K. It is indeed Vitamin D that you absorb when you're exposed to the sun.... Learn something every day ;).

Well if they are truely photosynthetic, then they can convert sunlight and water into Glucose. That is how potted plants grow up out of nowhere without even using up any of the soil you put them in.

No it's not. Think about it. Glucose is C6H12O6, water is H2O. They also need Carbon dioxide. And yes that is how they make glucose, but they still need things like nitrogen and phosphorus in order to create certain cellular organelles, which they obtain from the soil. If the protoss are photosynthetic, they also need a method of obtaining things other than glucose. And anyway, I don't think the idea of a photosynthetic animal is plausible at all, it just doesn't yield enough energy for such mobile creatures as protoss. They feed off psionic emanations of khaydarin crystals.

But if they are able to turn matter into energy and energy into matter, then sun's energy can be turned into its matter by structures made from the sun energy itself! @_@

    You scream for Hydrogen!
    I scream for hydrogen!
    We all scream for hydrogen!

(in case you didint know I was using the ice cream song mixed with the fact that the sun gaines its energy from HYDROGEN fusion.)

Hmmm that's an interesting concept. Pure energy to matter conversion...but if that was true they'd be invisible, cause all light that reaches them would be converted to mass, which means no light would reflect off them into the retina of whatever's trying to see them...so I guess it's plausible for the dark templar only! :p

And the sun doesn't gain energy, it's not an organism, it emits energy.
