i thought a hsm could kill a roach? It does 150 damage + splash. The roach only has 100Hp if i'm not wrong. Yes, it's capable to attacking both air and ground targets. The air attack is similar to the valkyrie in Brood War.

wiat i thought they said a HSM does 150 dmg or 125? thats way more then a roaches HP.

Yes they have a 30x2 ground attack at 6 and a 5 (+2 verse light) x8 attack at 10 versus air and the thor is bound to be with other units as well.

yah, based on the battle report 2 and information on starcraft wikia, the hunter seeker does 150 direct damage to the selected target. The splash damage is significant weaker as demonstrated when David Kim could not kill the tightly packed of roaches th other than the one roach he used the ability on. In the current Blizz build, Roaches has 100Hp.

Here is the info on Raven:
    http://starcraft.wikia.com/wiki/Raven

Here is the info on the Roach:
    http://starcraft.wikia.com/wiki/Roach

Also the thor is a powerful Anti air and Anti ground unit. Blizzard has confirmed that it is capable of attacking both air and ground units. Against ground targets, Thor's particle cannons do 30X2 damage against any target. It's ground attack has a range of 6, while the Air Attack consists of a volley of 8 Missiles causing 5 damage per missle and +2 per rocket against 'Light Units'. Hence, it's deadly against masses of light air units like the mutalisk. The Thor's air attack has a range of 10, which is technically 'siege' range.

More info on the Thor can be found on:
    http://starcraft.wikia.com/wiki/Thor

That was a very helpful post Nova. But I do have a question of where the missiles come out and what the particle fire looks like. Unless the particle fire is what it shoots normally at normal ground units.

Na im just messing with you.

The Cannons have been replaced on the thor now as you can see in this.

You can see from watching videos on the thors partical cannon is mainly a instant attack.

    thanks

@coctan, I rewatched the Battle Report 2 several times (Donwloaded copy) and i still haven't worked out where the missle is released. It seems that there is no local area as to where the missile is launched. It just appears in the general direction in where the target is. I believe Blizzard has yet to implement an animation for this, though i'm not sure if they even will. The Hunter Seeker missile itself looks like a spherical ball which releases a faint blue glow with little spikes protruding.

Here's the image of the missile.

Agreed, the HSM does have an animation that will pinpoint which unit it is directed at. I read a blue post on the official forum a few days ago, I wish i could give you the link though :)

But this screenshot is more recent. I think they brought the old design back.

This picture looks a lot better. If it were to fire missiles out, I can see them coming out of where the cannons are.

Although i do like the Hunter Seeker missile, i kinda miss te old abilities the Raven had, you know the spider mine and the targeting drone, it just gave the Raven a "hands off" approach to combat

but hey th HSM just needs more time to grow on me i think

The older thor (shoulder cannons) is aesthetically better in my opinion. Although, a more accurate rendition would be the recent thor (missile racks). It would be 'odd' for a thor to fire a volley of missiles from it's cannon tubes.

I'm saying that, Novacute, because the cannons look better on the Thor. The missile racks just look terrible. Anyways it doesn't have to be missiles, it can have an AA gun.

Am i the only one who thinks that the raven needs a re-design. Whats up with the twirling and those hideous white flying round mines?
