it hits 2 units at once, but only 2 air or 2 ground not 1 ground and 1 air

If you only have one base by the time your opponent has a mothership, you lost anyway.

In the middle of an intense fight it's very likely you'll hit your own units or get your ghost killed before the nuke can land.

Their base will usually be crawling with detectors even in an intense fight and will most likely have some defending units. Usually nuking isn't a good strategy in intermediate to advanced level games.

well one thing i must say is that even though they have near unbeatable firepower but one way that i have always overcame the protoss is to rape them near begining, you cant destroy them but you can weaken them if you keep doing that with a small group of marines or zerglings and have a real focus group to eventually take them entirely out of the equation (note: this doesnt work when they have allies who know where you are also every race has strengths and weaknesses the protosses weakness is their outragously high prices but that turns into their greatest strength because if properly massed they can own (here is a chart of pros cons about the different races)

    Protoss:
P - High Damage and well massed but hard to.
    C - Incredably High Prices.

Ownage: Pro + Good Setup = OwNaGe
Bad Start + Smart enemies = Dead

    Terran:
    P - N/A
    C - N/A

Ownage: Smart + Good bases = OwNaGe
Bad Start + Bad Setup = Dead

    Zerg:
P - Low cost, Easily massable.
    C - Low attack

Ownage: Non Mass + Pro enemies = Dead
    Mass + Smart = OwNaGe

Terrans pro is that they have almost as high damage units as protoss that costs alot less but their con is they don't have anywhere near the hitpoints of protoss.

P.s. Mothership wouldn't be entirly smart vs Terrans. Its likely someone would get 2-3 BCs with yamato cannons By that time making the mothership first priority. I think air-to-air if the Terrans pull off smart strategic plans(ie: where to engage and stuff) they can be a match or better then a Toss battle group. And its only because the Terrans have less cost then the Toss allowing them to match up pretty evenly with the Toss.

No one can comment on Zerg, Blizzard will change them at least a little from the original form. You can just comment on the basic strategies that have stayed true since SC1.

I think that the Protoss are way too powerful. I mean, with a Mothership and a few Phonixes they can probably clear the entire map. In fact, twenty Zealots and two Colosuss can destroy a base. :bad:

The Protoss are way too powerful.

20 zealots and 2 colossi will be annialated by any air units easily. Plus, many late tech units would make mince meat of the zealots before they would be destroyed.

Why's this thread still open? I think we all know now that yes, the protoss are powerful. However, that's not what starcraft is about. Sure they may be powerful, but the have massive costs. The costs and versatility of other race's units balance this out. This was pointed out by many other people and yet still people come here to post about it. I mean how can you even say that when sc2's not out yet?

Btw, no need to bump that. I think we can close this thread now.

Protoss have GREAT early game. If you are doing a standard build you can usually defend well with Zealots and probes, unless they rush to academy etc. Also you can get Dark Templar fairly early game, and they can be used well for containment purposes. Too bad those damn vulture got tweaked up!

Please just close this topic. This discussion is becoming one of the worst ever. If it is closed before I look at it again, I am even willing to make a nice summary of this one. Then it can be remembered as a good discussion, instead of one that had to be closed because it was becoming lame...
