Predator a rip off?

They rip off egyptians and predator

I dont think its a bad thing that starcraft rips-off other things, It basically takes elements from all the franchises we like and puts them together into one badass game.

 

me either, it's the only reason i got excited for AVP.

 

They are Similar but the Terrans are very generic Sci-fi so it can only be expected.

 

This type of ship design has been around for a while. It is kinda cool and boring at the same time. I don't think they actually were looking to rip them off, but just look at all the sci-fi series. Most have a ship similar to this design so I don't think that per se they rip of star wars. I can remember in star trek the dominion has a ship looking similar to this and the list goes on. Not a big deal in my opinion, but could be more original I suppose.

 

They need the units to actually Fly around like a Modern Jet does.

Or a Interceptor at least. Why should a Plane stand still and get shot at.

 

Well if there are simliarities... the good thing is that when it comes to UMS there won't be much graphical modding required ! Look at the bright side

 

well they could always change the predator's current model if they feel it necessary just like what they did to the siege tank

 

If you're creative enough, it's possible to view and explain anything in the world as a rip-off. Whether something is a rip-off is entirely subjective. There's no specific guideline for what's a rip-off and what's just influenced. So you could call it a rip-off, but that's not going to make much difference.

 

Im all for things in Starcraft resembling Star Wars but, that is a stretch. You can cobble together any starcraft unit from other things.

I personally don't think it is a ripoff but that's just Your's and possible other people's belief's and I must say it doe's have some similaritie's but not exact and I've seen alot better ripoff's but I ain't going to go to detail.

 

A few peiople in this forums don't grasp the concept of sarcasm but yes Starcraft is a ripoff but then so is pretty much evry work of literature. (What Sci Fi doesn't have space marines?)

 

Starcraft was based more on Sci Fi books than movies. It was based off of Aliens and Starship Troopers mostly

 

It's pretty hard to find anything completely new now, since so much has been done already.

 

Making anything new is very problematic, as there is so much existing stuff already. Also, you can claim almost everything is a rip-off of nature/ real life.
