Potential Stalker Upgrade

    if the periods of cloak and uncloak are short then what you said doesn't really matter as most will uncloak soon. the use for it is two fold:

    1. it will hide the true number of stalkers and also confuse the enemy (imagine a bunch of marines were fighting a group of stalkers and it seems like they are randomly appearing and disappearing in random positions. the marines would be confused, they might think that they are teleporting and it would be difficult to figure out exactly how many stalkers there are)

    2. and perhaps more significantly it improves a individual stalker's survivability. because it's hard for the enemy to focus fire, one stalker might be nearing death then it cloaks, making it safe to attack for another 10 seconds or what ever time period before it becomes vunerable again (assuming the enemy don't have a detector)

    finally it would totally look awsome!

    Yeah your second point is good indeed. It would also make sense because in SC you could create illusions with the High Templar, so if Protoss prefer to confuse enemies (Illusion, many many Interceptors) then yeah, I'm all for random cloaking!

    It's an ability female night elves have in Warcraft 3. At night, if they stand still, they become invisible. But if stalkers were to have such an ability it wouldn't have to be night, since they bend light to become invisible.

    And the way bnech put it makes the idea of cloaking and uncloaking actually sound attractive. Plus, you could blink the stalkers that are currently cloaked, which would make the enemy even more confused.

    I think all that would be needed to make this ability work well is a toggle so players can sinc there stalkers up or leave them all decloacked. (assuming there is a reason to do this)

    Sounds interesting. In fact it gives me a thought. How about a universal upgrade (see related thread) that allows all DT units to cloak

    i say give them 30 energies and blink costs ten energies. Cloak costs five and it decresed 1 every second, like a terran unit.

    That might be to limiting on blink though since energy recharges so slowly

    Why don't you just have the Stalker have an ability similar to the HT in hallucination, but it is just a mirage that last for a significantly less amount of time.

    That would work too but they shouldn't actually take damage. They would be there for 30 seconds, long enough to put the fear of God in your enemy then just poof.

    because this is a passive ability which is why it's so cool
