Phase canon looks like a flower.

@ BoP those Cannons were ugly, they looked like poorly animated metal spiders coming out and shooting. I'll get you the comparison later tho

What would you want them to use? Energy balls seems to be the best thing for the protoss to use except for lazers, but many units already use those. Also, they would make it hard to see the battle field if a bunch of them are fireing at the same time.

Ya thats what I wanted. I don't remember them being so ugly. I think I like the base of the new ones and the firing mechanism of the original

 

yes the photon canon in 3d looks UGLY. looks like a fountain and looks retarded when it goes up and down. the gravity sphere of the pahse canon is better.

 

The Phase Cannon looks like it can't support its cannon (The thing that shoots and comes up, then falls down)

 

I think they should remodel it a bit so that instead of floating the crystal energizing the cannon should be fixed but like it is a small spire within the phase cannon. Then as the cannon prepares to fire the energies swirl in the bottom like the defilers consume, but blue and around the spire. Then as the cannon fires a blue charge is sent to the crystal and sent flying out with blue sparks fizzling behind it. Then the whole process begins again. When the phase canon is not firing a small shell envelopes the small spire inside. (Would look reaver-ish and peel back to reveal the spire.

Canons are useless without power, plus a few zerglings can rip through cannons unpowered.

 

The Phase Cannon looks just fine as it is now - I can see the flower, but i don't think it's that big of an issue, It certainly looks better than the previous model that Zergalicious showed us.

 

I think they should stop rounding things off and making them all seem too blunt. I think if they made the ends of the cannons base sharp instead of blunt then it wouldn't look so much like a flower.

It's like conducting electricity - If the conductors are too far away, then the electricity can't transfer from one point to another. The ball acts as a sort of stopping point for the phase energy so random currents don't go flying every which way.

 

classic and unique as it is i still think the canon design looks odd for a base defense structure specially in real life and if it only attack one unit at a time.

 

Where did you get that idea from? Scourge can't kill pylons. remember I said WARP RAYS as in the laser beam artillery things.

 

The Photon Cannon looked breathtaking in the Protoss Gameplay video, it also had some smooth animations unlike the Phase Cannon which doesn't even change the facing of the barrel at the direction it is shooting at.

Well, i think they look very protoss. The shine and sleek, round curves in it are pretty sweet.

they are an alien race, who are you to tell an alien race what they are supposed to look like. lol.

The zergs take the grotesque and slimy look, the terran take the robotic, sharp look, so the protoss must have a shiny, smooth look to even out the look of the races

yes i also like the phase cannon as it is now. it does look pretty "alien-futuristic"

 

I don't mind how they look. To me, they look Protoss enough for me.
