Yes we do. I mean...Even following it logically. Let's go through it.

    Zerg are perfection of body.
Protoss are the perfection of spirit(?)

The Hybrids would logically be perfection.

Now then. The Xel'Naga created both the Zerg and Protoss because they wanted to create a perfect race (Obviously, they failed). Hybrids are perfect. If the Xel'naga were Hybrids, why would they want to create themselves and split their genetic data to do so?

    Sooo....We do know.

However, what we DON'T know is if Duran is one or an agent or some other entity.

    *SPECULATION FOLLOWS*
Anyways. Fourth race. Gotta be Xel'naga. In SC II, the hybrids are gonna be the baddies, and will have units and buildings in the Editor, but no real tech tree and stuff, so not really a race. In the expo, the Xel'naga will come along all PO'ed at Raynor and the Jim Lads killed the Xel'naga's life's work. OR. The Hybrids (Or what's left) will use their Zerg abilities and assimilate the Xel'naga creating a super imba race.

That's just waht I think though

You are all thinking inside the box. Try to look outside of it.

Someone mentioned that new races could be added to Warcraft 3 with ease because there were new, unexplored continents. Yes, that is true. But think about the setting of Starcraft - it's a whole friggin universe!! It would be easy for Blizzard to simply say "they came from a galaxy far, far away" (in nicer, fluffier words of course) and while it sounds lame, I believe Blizzard has the neccesary imagination and storycrafting skills to actually make that sound appealing and interesting.

clearing this up. Protoss are the Perfection of Form, and the Zergs are the Perfection of Essence.

said by the Overmind in the previews of one of the last(might be very last) mission of SC.

  4. Actually, the Overmind says the Xel'Naga blessed (Or were just blessed.) the Protoss with purity of form, and the Zerg were blessed with purity of essence.

That's true, but it would it be for the betterment of the story?

That doesn't fit at all with what I understand of the lore in the Dark Templar Saga, or really even in the game. No, they weren't perfect, but they weren't like the Strogg. They did care for their creations (I'm not sure if that's in the manual or not, but I think I remember something to that effect), and are very methodical with their actions.

If we classify the existing races on a 1 to 3 scale by comparing their intelligence and technology, I think we get this:
    Zerg: 1 - 1
    Terran: 2 - 2
    Protoss: 3 - 3
With this classification we also see the change in the ratio between number and unit toughness.

I think it's safe to presume that the 4th race will not have two identical numbers, to maximise diversity. If we take Protoss as the most advanced race there is (excluding the Xel'naga because they're mysterious enough to remain shrouded without upsetting the community), then we get two choices: 1 - 2 and 2 - 1. In my opinion the 4th race is either rather intelligent but without proper technology (for lack of resources and/or [skillful] limbs), or it has an ultimate master to serve (comparable to the overmind) but have advanced from brute force. The former can suggest the Samoengy, while the latter could leave the possibility of cyborgs as well as Samoengy. I think Hybrids would also get 1 - 1, which is why I doubt they'd be the 4th race. Because cyborgs sound quite random and unimaginative, paired with the fact that we don't know anything about the Samoengy (which ultimately makes them fit into both 1 - 2 and 2 - 1 categories), I'd vote for them.

Yeah, i mean we have now seen what a Samoengy looks like and because of that, it is a high chance that this would be the 4th race...and the Terrans have seen them :D (i'm referring to the artwork of some Samoengy with a Terran hiding behind a wall)

  8. ^ Isn't that all uncanon and just an artist doing art?

EDIT: Looking at some of the "other race" artwork has actually gotten me excited to see what Blizzard can do with a non-Hybrid/non-Xel'Naga race.

Yes, it's cannon, but that doesn't mean it is not possible - it just lowers the chance that it is.

I personally would be very happy to see the Samoengy - the design looks superb and they are different enough not to disturbe the balance between the races.

    PS: @darkone: sorry, I didn't notice.

  10. .. The wiki says it's not canon .. If you are sure you are right, you should correct it.

  12. Indeed :D

At first I wasn't sure if they could add a race that was a well introduced, fit well in the lore, and was just overall as cool as the other three... But, then I remembered this IS Blizzard :)

    I hope its the Samoengy

  14. Why would you rather have them than the others? I'm not saying there's anything wrong with that, I'm just wondering, and trying to start converstation :D

i was expecting the 4th race tbh

i think i even mentioned it in some where, maybe in another forum

i am very delighted to heard that

blizzard came up with a single simple theme for each race: creep, psionics and "big guns"

it's pretty easy to guess which is which, and it's easy to come up with more themes

  16. I don't think creep is the Zerg's main "theme" :D

I don't think a fourth race can be somehow fitted into SC2 because we don't know how the balancing issue is doing even with the 3 races and adding the 4th/5th race might mean that the stats of some of the units might have to be tweaked severely to make sure that all the 4 or 5 races are balanced out.

    xelnaga return

Hi every one!:D I am kind of new here so.... I thought of saying hi. About that fourth race thing in the SC2 expansion, I am almost sure that this new race should be the xelnaga. But what should look like such advance being....is something to thinck about.:D

i would actually prefer if the xel'naga had sort of old technology, like they were the masters of the universe centuries ago but they got left being by time.

I would like a new race more than a skew of new units like in BW it would seem like it had more content.
