Pearce Says Fourth Race Possible in Expansion

Hmmm...this is pretty awesome.

I mean, I agree that we don't need it, but it will give something new to experience after playing SCII

 

I would go with the UED as a new race.
The Sol Terrans and Koprulu Terrans have been separated for long enough to have a deal of technological distinction.

I'm really iffy about that.

 

I said right from the beginning that the 4th race would be in the expansion. It just makes sense. For one, the development team needs to focus on the original 3 races for the base game. And two, they need to use the campaign in the base game to lead into the creation or whatever of the new race. Plus, that'll build up the anticipation for the expansion and boost sales.

 

No one has said that they would be in the non expansion SC2.

 

but why does it have to be a new race? Why can't it be a new faction?

Franckly I don't think the Xel Naga would be a good choice since it would remove the mystery and I don't think the hybrids would have the numbers to be a whole new race

As of now I really don't think Xel'Naga should be the fourth race, but seriously, we'd have to wait for the SC2 storyline first. Right now it might turn people off because it makes them too "plain" but who's to say the events of SC2 won't change that?

 

hmm, i think the fourth race should something completly new and unseen. For instance take the universe of warhammer/ 40k, eitehr games has mutiple races and factions. Even though it has been out longer, it still took its damn time with them, but i hope something really cool will come out of blizzard's mind and tear and/or disintigrate us.

 

they are not just ordinary humans. if they be the new race, ofcourse they will look and feel completely different from the terrans. if the terrans looks and feel better than "ordinary boring humans" how much more the UED. they'd be extremely powerful and will rule the universe. don't you think it be nice that for once humans(earth humans) are the most powerful race in the sc universe. Think of the empire in starwars but cooler yes with gundam like mechs and build drop mechanics warhammer style.

Although I don't share darkone's personal beliefs. I wouldn't want the UED as the fourth race. They would just basically be Terrans with better tech. To me, that's boring. I'd want an all new, unique race.

 

no they'd be completely different from the terran. they will have different units, buildings, mechanics, interfaces, and so on. are these not new enough for you? xp

they will have flying static buildings, land transportation, orbital lasers, underground attacks for burrowed zerg, etc.

anyway, any examples of what will be the new race you think will it be?

 

They wouldn't be completely different than your run-of-the-mill Terrans. If you stripped away all of their toys, they'd be nearly identical to the Terrans. But I digress, we each have our own opinion of what race would be best suited to be the fourth race.

As for my opinion on the matter, I really don't have a clear cut choice. Though I wouldn't want the new race to be the hybrids or the Xel'Naga. I want something we haven't had contact with in the games. Perhaps a race mentioned in some of the Starcraft books. Or just something new altogether.

 

A dark advanced race, that has been observing the war between the humans, zerg, and protoss.

I specifically said in the article that this is speculation. Would you have rather me not release news like this that is pertinent to SC2? It comes from Blizzard and as such is generally reliable and you should know about it.

 

Regardless of source speculation is usually bad for business.
