    Yeah, sorry about that. I don't do 3d stuff much, I'm just a code monkey. I tried to explain it the simplest way I could, but without a detailed knowledge of what exactly goes down, there was just no way it seems. I called it anisotropic highlighting, but for looking up info on it, search "anisotropic shader." Sorry for the mishap.

  2. No problem. It's like explaining physics or an extremely abstract idea. It's very difficult to do. That's why jargon and other words are created for specific industries to make communications like this easier.

    Ooo I had never even heard of Anisotropic Shading! Thanks for the link, that helps explain.

    Found more of the new Zerg - The new Spawning Pool and Queen!


    I like the new Pool, and the much darker tone. The fluid and shine look great.
    Queen looks good too.

    I like the darker tone, but the multiple 'levels' and seperate pieces of the old pool looked better. This looks to simple. Also, the old pool could have nice animations, where different levels would glow for different upgrades. For an organic building, this just looks way to simple.

    The new Queen looks a lot more like the previous model. Still, the colouring is certainly an improvement. I like it that it has more legs now, makes the unit look more mobile. The bigger head is... meh. It has to much of an Alien vibe. -the movie character- I liked the old head better, but this one is still not that bad.

    There is a obvious polygon increase to the entire queen model, its face, its claws, its abdomen, its all much more detailed. Combined with a new texture and specular highlights imho its a big leap foward.

    I am curious to how they are implementing its air attack animation, those things on its shoulders appear to open up slightly, could be something to do with those...
