New races possibly blizzard?

Although i would say that its an idea for a new race but i think the UED should be seperated artisticly from the other Terran factions (Like the Blood Elves from Warcraft 3), while their units maybe similar just give them a cool new art design for there units, buildings etc. Just thought it be cool

 

I am VERY happy Blizzard didn't introduce a new race. A lot of good RTS game are ruined by mindless and unthought new races, abilitys, units, etc.
New things ≠ good things.

 

and lets be real its approaching what 10-12 years now since SC came out? well from one standpoint lets bring back the series to the market in a new and fresh looking way and get even more people into it, but lets not change anything drastic yet.

btw an example for the hybrids would be techno-organic, the protoss have supreme tech while the zerg were very organic well why not combine them the buildings, units ideas are limitless. and hey while theoretically they should be superior the other 3 well they are also technically the weakest since they are brand new

 

Maybe Xel Naga

I think in starcraft 3 Xel Naga will be a playable race and in starcraft 2 xel naga will appear in the campaign only.I think that they can add xel naga because it is the best idea there is no better races like space elfs or some stupidness

 

Why should Blizzard add Xel Naga as a playable race? Lorewise that would be like stupid?

 

I'm assuming you don't know a thing about warcraft at all now don't you? It might be true that most RTS are ruined by such catastrophic changes, but you seem to have forgotten that there were even 2 races added in Warcraft that even made it even more "betterer" than it was already. The point here is that Blizzards staff aren't amateurs that they would make simple mistakes like others did. But note that if they do add a new race, I'll bet that not a soul who played starcraft will never be exited of something like that. I believe that the devs of blizz has the capacity to do it as they have always outclassed everyone's expectations.

 

introducing the new race in singleplayer, NPC only is the best way to go. it just doesn't feel right if they introduce a new race right away. i don't want them to pop down a new race that's "equal" to the original three races before they get much backstory.

i hope the new race is the xel'naga/hybrids, and SC2 trilogy will really flesh out their identity, style, role, etc.

and then make them playable in SC3.

 

We never know what really is in store for us, just like what they did with WC3 and D2

Thinking about SC3 is 10yrs way ahead anyway so I'll just focus my attention to the trilogy coming up. Oh and btw, one question here, will the game come out on CD or DVD format? Im assuming its the 2nd right?

 

there is a big difference between WC and sc Freedom.

the races in warcraft have a lot less difference in mechanics, and the cost/effectivity per race doesnt differ nearly as much as in starcraft.

 

SCs balance is way too complex, which is why I'm not saying it definitely. But there is always the slightest possibility of the unknown. I'm merely prepping up a "told you so" line in the event that it could happen. I'm not comparing their balances btw, I'm just saying blizz has the capacity to make that happen whether we like it or not. ^_^

 

And I just want to add that warcraft 3 isnt nearly as balanced as scbw (I know its newer!!!), for example look at pro matches Orc vs Undead.

i think we should look more into a sc2 expansion after the 3 chapters rather than expecting sc3....sc2 WoL hasnt even been released and we're talkin about sc3?:laugh:

anyway....they might do it like wc3...they add blood elfs and naga which were only playable in the campaign so they can add xel naga or hybrid or whatever race they want and make it playable like for 1-2 missions in the campaign and in the rest of them just keep appearing.....when should they put these races in the game? i dunno they can put it in wings of liberty in some other chapter or in the sc2 expansion....

 

You don't play warcraft 3 at all, do you? lol.

Anyways I don't think a fourth race is neccisary, not because of balancing but because the races are so diverse fomr eachother I don't want mix units in sc2. Also at the original post, having warcraft 3 units in sc2 would mean haivng sc2 units in wc3, nad then they just become melded together as 1 game.... which would be god awful.
