I like that sc2 is going to be brighter than the original. I always though that some of the maps in the original were too dark and made it hard to see small units sometimes, especially purple's units since they blended well with the dark lighting.

The nuke looks amazine in the picture. I like the smoke effect as its launching from the silo. Also, I like that the silo is now separate from the CC, so you can now have both a nuclear silo and a comsat station with only having one CC.

not surprising, since we know a lot about some of the units, it's getting easier to develop possible effective strategies.

My favorite so far is a zealot decoy:

Send in your small group of zealots toward the front of an enemy base to distract thier main forces, them when they are distracted, send in a combination of colossi and stalkers from the back to attack the supply lines. By the time they see whats happening, they have lost some of thier economy and had thier forces divided. Then, you can simply retreat back over the cliffs to escape any army they muster up against you.

I highly doubt that the enemy will leave their entire supply line undefended. They will at least have a few base defenses back their and some units. Of course it might still work if you have enough units but the enemy might realize it's a diversion in which case you're screwed. Also by the time you get colossi they'll usually have air units so they could get chased down anyways. Oh, wth, it's a good plan.

@wick, I know they would have air units, that is why thge stalkers are an excellent support unit for the colossus. They can move around just as easily, and they have AA capabilities, allowing then to combat the air units while your colossi attack any ground forces and supply units.

The tactic sound great, but it won't be until the game is released to tell if my strategy works, is worth the cost, and if my micro/macro is good enough to be able to use if effectively.

in the second game there will be hardcore defenses everywhere
people will defend there minerals because of all the new units:
reapers, colossi, stalkers, and the new zerg (they will get at least one cliff jumper)

But how effective will mass defence strucures be? The colossi's beam does 144 total damage. The stalker is excellent for air units and small units. A factor will be, how much is it going to cost the player to heavily fortify thier supply lines, and how effective they will be against enemy raids.

From what it looks like, both races have gotten new abilities to greatly increse thier defence capabilities. The terrans have gotten the new radar tower to predict any attacks, and the protoss can now move thier turrets. The zerg will get something, but because they are a group that rely's on attack, they might not get as good of a upgrade as the other two groups got.

    btw the magazine is PCGamer

defending your supply lines will be very hard but i wonder how much there raiders (talking bout colossi) are going to be resource wise

there gonna cripple your economy too if you get enough to destroy a heavily fortified base

    Colossus
    Minerals: 300
    Vespene: 200
    Build Time: 75
    Supply: 6

    Stalker
    Minerals: 125
    Vespene: 50
    Build Time: 42
    Supply: 2

Total cost for army of 2 colossi and 5 stalkers: 1225 minerals, 650 gas
    Total supply taken:22

I choose 2 colossi and 5 stalkers since that soulnd like a decent number for a raid against an enemy expansion. The stalkers will be good against enemy aircraft and does decent damage to ground targets as well. The colossus could stand over the stalkers, dealing damage to any enemy forces and buildings.

Actually for the protoss, even though this could do serious damage, doesn't seem to cost too much danage to your economy.

Eon thats not a really good squad if your planning to stay and not running, you should have some Zealots to support the front lines :D
