I would like to believe that the mass physics are not shown in the video because its multiplayer, or because they had to remove them for testing... or something..

Im sure they will be present in the singleplayer tho.

The player selected the Tank, transformed it into assault mode, clicked to the right, and when the tank was done transforming, it automatically went to the end of the waypoint (or further, but no other move commands where given as far as I could see) which did not originate from a building, but from the Siege Tank itself.

Dude, I am pretty sure. :)

That's what I meant. It'd look much better if it shot from both sides at once.

And I'm positive the physics were only temporarily removed, which is why I didn't comment on the simple death animation.

What impressed me most apart from the awesome graphics and fluidity is the pathing of units. When that siege tank transformed to normal tank and moved over the 2 reapers, my SC instincts told me the tank would go around!. But wait, no, the reapers let him pass! omg and they took back their position after the tank passed! That is some great programming there :D

I think that kind of pathing will improve greatly the efficiency of Microing units. Those pro-gamers will give us hell of a show!

  12. Yeah, too bad many fanatics think that better pathing will completely destroy progaming :(

Even, though, in interviews, progamers have said they are not against increased pathfinding :D

It is going to kill their old microing ability, because they were used to the limit SC had. They will just have to learn how to micro differently. I have complete confidence that SC2 will be hard to master as well :)

  14. I do as well :D

you been living in a cave?! : Concerning RTS yes I have been. Up to today Starcraft answers all my RTS needs. About the programming part, I am still not sure it is that easy, you will need to provide me more meat on this one :)

  17. You aren't missing as much as one might think. I've played nearly all RTSs.

Back when I played StarCraft when I was 8/9, I kept buying other RTS thinking that one of them could match StarCraft's quality. I had no idea StarCraft was so special, I just knew I loved it, and figured there would be other games as good or better. I played Total Annihilation, Command & Conquer, and on and on.. Nothing compares to StarCraft... Even to this day

If you've played StarCraft, you've played the best of the best, and that's about all you need.

I would disagree, starcrafts UI features, programming, graphics are terrible compared to most RTS today, gameplay on starcraft rocks the socks off most rts imo tho! ;D

  19. I understand the rest, but how is the programming "terrible"?

Well pathing for once is kinda of lame in SC. It was good back then but RTS seems to have gotten over that tiny problem.

But Babmer did not answer my question about programming pathing that is supose to be that easy. Still waiting for that ;)
