They even gave its attack to the Nullifier, that hurt.

I think that they should change it back to the old attack.

i have sadly changed my mind on this subject... i now enjoy the spread fire, but believe that it can use some new changes for its animation. I do not like the fire separtate beams. Instead, make it into a solid flat line that looks like it is notcoming from five beams, not too. five shot spread makes no sense for a 2 cannon weapons, so maybe they could make it fire the lances in front then they focus into the flat like... like the nullifier.
P.S. they may have changend it because Halo already called dibs on the four legged giant walker with a dragging laser beam

I didn't notice that... and they did so without changing anything. Two questions:
Why would a caster have a strong looking attack?
Why would a strong looking attack deal very little damage?

ok, ok, maybe they did give it to the nullifier, but stop criticising it. First of all, their beam is thinner and the texture isnt as thick as the old collosus attack. So to me, the nullifiers attack doesnt look powerful.

It's an early game caster... it shouldn't have any attack at all.

And I just remembered that I was going to collect colossi when the items return... no way José.

Lol indeed. I lost all respect for the Colossus.

The single strong beam had so much potential.

As we've seen, the colossus attack has been changed to a laterally sweeping beam, but it's basically the two types of attack animations brought together, here Karune clarifies it:

I'm thinking about individually upgrading. Since its an option if you want to attack single units or speard it out to damage a bunch of units. I believe this is a good idea because it could be just like the Terran BattleCruiser, but instead this is the main attack. This options will make users stratgeies more complex. Same with the game.

i personally like the spread fire, though both sides should fire.

instead of having one side fire a full spread, have both sides fire a half attack each.

the focused beam was nice, though the nullifier has that now

It keeps getting worse for the Colossus. Every game I've seen it in it does not perform well at all. Colossus is a very poor unit now, GG Colossus.

Why doesn't Blizzard realize they've destroyed the Colossus like the Thor :[

The old attack I liked (from the first protoss video last year), but I suppose this beam is still much better to me visually than the spread.

What if the ranged was increased on the colossus? Do you think that would help it's role?

Frankly, I don't see the problem with the Colossus. Its DPS is as good as a Siege Tank, is tougher for its cost, and its far more mobile. Its a little on the weak side, and I'd prefer it to go back to the 300 Minerals 150 Gas for 300 HP 150 Shields it use to be at, but I do not want the old attack.

As for why, 2 reasons. First, the old sweep from target to target attack was ridiculously overpowered. In the video at the Starcraft 2 official website, it kills 3 upgraded marines with 1 attack. Along with the sweeping property, that means that the Colossus can kill a Siege Tank or 5 Zerglings with a single attack. It has the advantages of an AOE attack(much higher than normal DPS) and a regular attack(focus fire allows you to quickly reduce enemy's DPS).

Second, what purpose did the old Colossus have? What was its niche? Immortal is a tank, High Templar/Archon an AOE destroyer, Void Ray has the high DPS against a single target, and Carrier the multipurpose powerhouse?

Granted, much of this could be applied to the new version as well. I've always gotten the feel that the Colossus and Thor were added to SC2 solely on the grounds that they looked cool. After realizing that they were horribly unbalanced as unstoppable assault monsters, they were both nerfed into the "odds and ends" role, with Colossus getting a mixture of Siege/Fire Support/Raiding and Thor getting the AA/Tank roles.
