The Battlecruiser isn't an Ultralisk tho. Plus Zerg had very good air units.

Well, I was watching the FutureWeapons rail gun episode and it said that it could be shot from a plane and then break apart into a million pieces to wreak havok on ground soldiers and infantry. (splash damage anyone?)

I was thinking, and if the BC did switch to rail guns, then they could replace the plasma cannon attack with this dispersal of a rail gun shot. It doesn't look cool, just like a bunch of things falling to the ground, but c'mon: Thousands of 5,000mph projectiles raining death on the enemy's M&M's, Zealots, or 'lings and 'lisks? THAT WOULD PWN

also what is a railgun exactly, is it like warhammer 40K railguns
or is it something different

Dude, if had read this whole thread all we are talking about is explaining rail guns to lasers. Go back a few pages and read.

A railgun's a gun that uses electromagnets to propel a bullet instead of using gunpowder. It shoots bullets at almost four times the speed of an M16. The US Navy made a functioning railgun and revealed it this month. I dunno what the 40K railgun was like so I can't tell you.

Travels at 8 times the speed of sound, but it requires huge amounts of energy so far.

good point about zerg allready having good air units, but terran had more effective unit abilities then zerg so it balanced out.

I wouldn't say more effective, just a different approach.

i would say more effective. healing and EMP shockwave were some of the most powerful spells in the game, not to mention repair or yamato cannon. the terran units in general were weaker for their cost then their zerg counterpart, but the abilities they had made up for what they lacked in brute.

i always thought that most terrian air unit were overpriced but i never took repair into consideration

i have read the whole thread I was just wondering what a railgun was because I heard the term tossed around but all I know is that it futuristic gun

getting back to topic I voted on the railgun because I think it would look cooler then the plasma torpedoes

I think that the railgun is going to be like the mammoth tanks in C&C 3 with the railgun upgrade.
A kind of pulse laser thing is what it looks like for those who have not played.

They already gave a rail gun to a Jackel that actually shoots through units. So they probablly won't give battle cruisers rail guns.

when this poll was written the jackal had not been introduced,
with the introduction of the jackal this poll is obsolete, because as you said blizzard will probably not give another unit a railgun attack.

i tihnk irridate was a much more useful terran ability then the EMP.

wether the battlecruiser gets a railgun or keeps the pew pew lasers it will look awesome and that's all that matters
